:surrenderrest sounds wonderful! However it is a least a couple hours away now. We had an animal control officer drop off an emergency foster, He called the rescue I foster for and they sent him here. Normaly this is not a problem but this foster kid is a very large, very aggressive, predeter!! A unneutered Ferret! They are illegal in most of the cities here including were this officer works, because of that the officer is instructed to uthenise before the end of the days shift. This guy spends his lunch hour making calls to the kill free rescues trying to make arrangements for all the days death row animals to reduce the number he himself has to destroy. I think that is great but :shock2:tonight, me, and a aggressive preditor! The shelter woman is in montana so she needs me untill she can get here. And I cant be the cause of his death. I have fostered many ferrets for her so we did the usual brought him in, set him up in one of our spare cages with all the nessesary itams........within seconds of putting him in the only animal free room in my house(my sons room)this ferrett went psyco!!! sprayed urine all over, and in the blink of an eye he had that cage pulled apart and wide open!!!:nerves1:sofa:Let me just say he is resting comfy out in my shed! Plenty of food, water, warmth and extra blankets locked up tight in a portable large dog crate. Chad said he is not coming back into this house, we called the rescue and she is heading out here first thing in the a.m. :headsmackanyway yo all are so wonderful! Thanks for being here for me and our precious Nuggles! Never had such support when it invaulved my animals,(my dearest treasures, my life) Im so honored and truly grateful to have found this site. Nice to know that there is people who feel and relate to our precious critters the way that I do.I am forever grateful to each and every one of you!!! All of us strangers living many miles, and diferent life styles apart and yet you were all right here in my home going through this nightmare with me and Nuggles and Chad! I could obviously go on all night about this so im gonna say it one more time........

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR BEING YOU AND SHARING YOU WITH ME!!!!!!:bow:bow:hug::inlove:Im forever greatful!!!

about the pellets, no pellets untill she is 100%and then she is cut back to 1/3 cup a day:sad:guess she wont need 3bowls for her different dinners, just 2 now.:bawl:she likes her things the way they are, it has taken her all year to train us just the way she wants us and now we gotta change her most favorite thing of all....her food types, food schedual, food intake......:bowforgive me nuggs:bow

Thanks for everything,

Shye

And I hope the demon ferret isn't giving you to much trouble :devil

Really, the vet said no pellets? I think it would be important to get her to eat. I'll wait on Naturestee or Pipp to weigh in with an opinion on this one.

I'm glad to hear Nuggles is on the mend!!

I guess the vet wants her to be filled up with Critical Care, not the less nutritious pellets. I've always heard that the most important thing is that she eats, though. And I know that a lot of bunnies will starve before eating their timothy hay or alfalfa, so you can't just force some bunnies into it. (Like Pipp).

THis is a bit different situation than normal stasis because of the diarrhea, etc. The vet got her this far, not about to second guess him.

Is she eating the Critical Care willingly? I really don't think there would be a problem flavoring it with something that make sit more appetizing for her -- a little pedialyte or apple juice. (Just a little).

And did the vet tell you how important it was to let the CC soak for quite awhile? If it hasn't absorbed all the liquid it can, it will draw it from the bunny's intestines, and further dehydrate her.

Can't stress enough howimportant hydration is.

I may post a quick note about this on Ether bun, although my experimentation isn't postinganymore. :(

sas

Pipp, who's not posting anymore? I haven't been over there for a bit.

I'd say as long as she's actually eating the Critical Care then it's okay to not have pellets. I agree with flavoring it a bit if necessary- my buns love canned pumpkin.

And like Pipp said, hydration is very important, both for diarrhea and stasis. If she doesn't seem to be drinking much you can syringe some into her. She might like flavored Pedialyte, but water will work too.

I would just like to say thank you also much. When Shye and I woke to find Nug as sick as she was..... well you all know how fast a bunny can pass. It has been a stressful couple of days and yoursupport for Shye and Nughelps more thanyou would believe. You all are proof that bunny lovers are better people!

THANK YOU!!

Chad

(Shye`s lesser half)

:kiss:Hi again! Last night was quite stressful. It was time for her crittecal care again and meds, well didn't go well at all. Nuggles refused the critical from the get go so we would have to restain her and force her to take it. Last night she would not swollow it she just let it run out of her mouth:cry4:Jordiwes and pip we were thinking the same thing. Chad and I desided that if she was willing to eat even if it wasnt what she should have then it had to be better than her not eating at all. So I went in and got her a very small piece of kale and offered it to her, She gobbled it right up! A little later we did the same thing and she ate again! then this a.m. Chad gave her a small salad and again she ate it all, about 3 hours later she started to eat her hay and alfalfa and tonight I am happy to report that she has healthy POOPS!!!!

she has been playing, shredding paper, and begging to come out and play!!! The ferret from ---- has been picked up and is on his way Montanan with 2 other ferrets were he will be very well taken care of untill he finds a forever home! After seeing Nuggles this a.m. I think the week finally caught up with me I laid down and :sleep:all day!! LOL Now I have to go in and get my orders done ( I make dog beds to earn money to help us support our foster kids, I call it bunny money!)before I fall any further behind! They are promissed befor x-mas and I havent touched them sence Nuggs got sick! But now that it is bedtime Im wide awake!lol so I quess Ill get to work!!

Thanks to all of you!!!

Shye, Nuggles, Nibbles

and all foster kids!

Oh ya, Mike,

No it was not a Nic cage it was just a rabbit cage that a friend brought over to donate, we use it when we pick up bunnys that are being surrendered to the kill free shelter and all our carriers are being used. Obviously not built for crazy ferrets! LOL:)

Shye

Ohh that is just wonderful!!,i'm so happy that Nuggles is feeling so much better
