Hi everyone! I did make a previous post already, but this is my introduction. 🙂 I am new to bunnies, and we (my family) has adopted our friends' 4ish year old male. His name is Sisi, and we all love him, already. I will have tons of questions as we get to know him more, so I'm so glad I found you all! So far, everything he does gets me nervous. I hear all of these horror stories about them getting sick and being silently ill etc. He came to us in an xpen, and we successfully moved him into the entire play room. When we first brought him home he binkied all week. It actually scared me, because I had not expected him to do it. It almost looked aggressive, as he would fling himself near my head. But he's a sweet boy and gives me kisses now. Especially for cilantro. He seems to be verrrrrrry picky with food. Doesn't like his hay, and won't eat cilantro from certain stores. I'm serious. Is that even a thing?! We love him and he even lets me pull those fluffs off his bum. Here is the first setup we had. Wow, it's clean, and hay isn't everywhere! That's his running binky he did every time we let him out. He would go around and around the whole pen and then flung himself. Then he'd be pooped and lay down. 🙃

He's very cute! He does need to eat lots of hay so get a few types of grass hay and keep trying until he eats at least his body size in hay every day. Don't give him much other food, 1 tbsp pellets a day is plenty.

Thank you. I'm not sure exactly what kind of hay the bale he came to me with is, but I just got an order yesterday from small pet select and he LOVES it! He jumped into the box. We have removed the enclosure entirely, and have gated the hall. Slowly expanding his territory. He seems to do well. He's getting cuddlier, too. So sweet.

Well done! He's a very lucky guy to have found you.

Oh my goodness he’s a darling! Soooooo cute! So happy he’s eating end enjoying life with you! Happy days 🥰🥰💓💞🐇🐇

I also suggest that you experiment with the hay. We have a couple of picky buns that prefer Oxbow orchard grass. The other four like timothy.

When we were new to rabbits we made mistakes, mainly from bad advice from people who didn't know what they were talking about. My suggestion is to continue getting guidance from folks on this forum; and, reading a book on rabbits written by a respected author. They can be found on Amazon and The Advanced Book Exchange, www.abebooks.com

Enjoy your rabbit. They have changed my life for the better.

What Orrin said about the hay is good advice! When I first got Minx she was on Timothy and hardly ate any!,Then it was suggested to me to try some others so I went to Oxbow Orchard and she loves it’s, I think it was JBun who suggested a couple and I went with the orchard!
From eating almost nothing to now eating two small bowls a day. It just blesses my heart to see her enjoying her hay! (Which is
About 4 cups a day]
Good luck 🤞👍👍❤️💕🐇🐇🤞

Thanks all! Lately, he's been completely cleaning out his Timothy Hay. I guess he still loves it. He successfully eats his own size, and has less pellets each day with a big bowl of greens. He's not scaring me anymore about his eating habits 🥳
