That bunny is adorable, I hope someone can help get him a new home.

I live in Willoughby which is near Cleveland (about 1/2 hour east ofCleveland) so I'm no where near Mansfield or Toledo.

Wish I could help but I don't have a reliable vehicle anymore so I can't be driving that far :(

Please keep us updated!

Could you speak to the breeder and see if shewould make an exception? You wouldnt have to tell her youre thinking ofadopting another. See if maybe she will be flexible?

Its a difficult call. If we do find someone to help with the transport, they may not ask for gas money, we will just have to wait and see.Everytime Ive done one, Ive not been reimbursed for gas. I usually justdo it because I want to help. I think most people feel the same.

Have you gotten a cage and everything ready for a new bun? Whats yoursituation like? Its easier to convince people to help out if they knowfor sure the bun is going to a wonderful new home :)

I'll let you know if I hear anything from our members.

[align=center]Iwill do anything to get this little boy. I will post pics of my houseand my acre of land or anything you want to get him. I do not reallyhave more than $10 to spare for gas as I have boughten a cage andsupplies with the last of my bun spending money. :( I have one morething I am concerned about....How can I trust someone who isdelivering? What if I pay for him and the person who is picking him upkeeps him? :( I really dont care loosing out on the $25 non-refunddeposit with the other breeder as long as he gets here.:D

Hi! I wish I was in Ohio as I would try to help you out.

I want to share a few things though as you make this decision.

a. A 5 week old bunny is too young to be sold and taken awayfrom its mama. I don't know if the breeder is just going to let youmake your choice at that age and then you get the rabbit later - orwhat. But if you get the rabbit at 5 weeks of age...then you may verywell have health issues further down the line.

b. In some states, quite possibly yours...it is illegal to sell rabbits before a certain weight or age...like 8 weeks.

You could possibly try this technique for dealing with the breeder. I'mnot saying its totally right or honest...ok? But a breeder should NOTbe selling rabbits that young.

"Hi. We found out that it is illegal for me to buy a rabbit that isonly 5 weeks old. May I have my money back?" You could thensort of hint at the fact that the breeder could be reported for sellingthem that young...

While I take deposits, they are only nonrefundable sometimes....notoften. Most breeders do nonrefundable deposits and it is a commonpractice...BUT..many times they will refund the money if you put a bitof pressure on them. The thought of being reported for selling 5 weekold bunnies is some pressure..

As far as paying whoever helps you out - you would pay them when you receive your bunny...not beforehand.

Even though I haven't been a member here forvery long I feel confident that anyone from this forum who offers tohelp transport a bunny for another member is not going to pull anythingshady (meaning they won't keep the rabbit) ;)

Do you have your cage and other supplies you will need for a new bunny?

Just curious, Are you planning on keeping him indoors or out?

I think anyone willing to help is trustworthy.Im involved in a lot of transports through bunderground railroad andIve never heard of someone taking a bunny. People usually help out ofthe kindness of the hearts and their desire to help these bunnies findbetter homes.

If youre not planning on breeding I can post this on bunderground aswell. I have a friend in Toledo and she may be able to help as well. How long until this owner takes the bun to the shelter?

I am certainlyNOT breeding him. I dont have the time to breed and that is why Im onlygetting 1. :D I e-mailed the owner and he said he might not be takingit to the shelter, but he can not care for it anymore, so Imthinking..then obviously your going to do something with him if youdont want him anymore. I think he was telling me that the second time,so he dont feel like he is a "shelter giver". So, anyone who picks himup hopefully will not mention me telling you that he was going to giveto a shelter because then I dont think he will sell to me for beingsome type of "snitch" or something. I just know every since I seen him,my heart stopped for him. I e-mailed to tell the owner I am working onsome help, if they can give me like 4-5 days to hold him, so I canfigure something out, but they have not e-mailed back to say if thatwas ok or not. I am just trying to see if someone will help me in thenext 3-4 days because if not, I am kind of stuck with theChocolates.

ThankYou...I hope so too. I will be very devastated if I cant take him andlove him like he should be. That probably isnt happening right now bythe looks of the owner. :?

I hope you get your bunny. I would be carefuland cautious as this person sounds kind of shady to me. Iwon't put it past someone to pull the old bait and switchtactic. I mean this person lured you in with 'if you don'ttake the bunny it is going to a shelter or worse'. I would beof the mind to check out his breeding facility. I would betmy last dollar this is a mill-type place. Sorry to soundcynical. I guess I've been in social services too long. Ireally hope I'm wrong.

Ithink that is another reason I want him so bad. I feel like he needs meyou know? Like he was meant to be with me.

This person does not sound legit. I dont thinkanyone would want to transport if hes a breeder also. If he wants tosell his bunnies he should be willing to meet you. And if hes a breederhe's not taking that bunny to a shelter. Hes just trying to lure you in.

Have you checked Petfinder to look at local bunnies in shelters? Ivolunteer at Midwest Rabbit Rescue(http://www.rabbitrr.org) nearDetroit, MI. If you were intestered in any there we might be able towork something out for you. One of the volunteers goes back and forthbetween there and Toledo guite a bit!

Just to show you one we just got: Shes so cute and the adoption fee includes her spay (which is usually 150-200 bucks!)
