My first unufishal job was bar backing for my sister she has been a bartender sense I could remember.

I stcked beer did the dishes cleaned the pool tables. Served Pop to costumers. I never touch a open bottle of beer or alcohol my sister would not have it. She paid me 30 bucks a day I worked saturday and sunday with her and brought me lunch. 11 am to 8 pm.

I first real paying job was life guarding I did that the summer of 16 and 17.

Made 10.50 a hour and then made 7.50 for any swimming lesson classes I teached a hour.

OUt of season I worked for my local Mc Donalds. For 5.15 a hour. Which is where I met my husband

My first job was when I was 14. I worked at our local Park & Rec office taking registrations for summer activities and answering the phone. My mom was the office manager and got me the job. I worked there for two summers. As soon as I was old enough, I got a job waitressing at a local diner (which was the local teen hangout).

I haven't had an official job yet, I haven't been able to find one because of the way the economy but my first half proper job was farming. I still do it, and get paid.

Herding cattle, baling, getting cattle ready for injections, helping out with de-horning (which I hate it's so cruel), bucket feeding calves, herding donkeys, getting them ready for vet visits and for the farrier, killing rushes on the quad, also spreading fertilizer on the quad and spreading slurry on the tractor. Hmm lot's of other bits and pieces too, it's fun!

babysitting would top my list. . .

but i did work at my aunts diner for a summer, that would be my first official job. it was my first experiance cooking on a line. . . waited some tables, did prep cooking, washed dishes, ect. that would have been the summer i turned 16 i think.

hard to believe that i have returned to working in a kitchen after 6 or 7 years. . . never thought i would, but its what i love. only i am making way more money now lol.

Very interesting reading. :)

My main observation is no one is still working at their first job!

I also want to say I have the highest respect for food-service industry people. That is a hard job. I never did it, but I know it's hard. Customer service is brutal, in general, but I think the food/bar servers who can stick with it, are a unique breed.

My first job was working at a Horse Boarding Stable. Though most of the money I made went straight back into the horse we had and boarded there. I was into showing so usually the money went into lesson fee's, training fee's, show fee's, etc. I was payed hourly (minimum wage) for mucking out all the stalls and paddocks, refilling with fresh bedding, turning out to pasture and exercising horses.

I generally loved it, but it was the worst in summer.
Mucking out stalls in 100 degrees Fahrenheit is not fun, though it did keep me in great shape!

My first job was pet sitting my neighbors cat. They went away alot and I was always so sad when I left Sandy, I was 11 yrs old. My next job was delivering Penny Savers. Back then you had to put it all together and have 90 papers delivered by 7:00 am on Saturday. I got paid $11.00 a week and I thought I was making money. I hated getting up that early cuz I love to sleep and still do, hehe.

Babysitting for me, I did it here and there for family when I was younger but now I have been babysitting monthly for two families for a little over a year.

I love babies and kids and had been looking for a babysitting job for about two years then I got two in less than a month!! Now I will be looking for another as one family I babysit for is moving.

I forgot I petsit too, just small animals, all year round but I get the most people in the Summer and it kept me in money all this Summer.

Between babysitting and petsitting, I did a lot growing up. THe first formal job that required a resume was being a Junior Leader with a local summer drama school. At age 14, I got to keep about 40 kids quiet with string, paper, glue and sparkles. We played a lot of tag, and did dramatic exercises together, rehearse songs & lines. Big musical show at the end of the summer.
It was quite an experience!

Those of you with baby-sitting experience completely amaze me. You definitely have nerves of steel. I couldn't do that for a million $ an hour. :p
