Hello,
I have not been posting much in the last few years, but I hope everyone and their bunnies are doing great. I started fostering bunnies a few months ago, despite having all 5 of my original rabbits (they are turning 6 and 7 this year and in great health). I got this bunny at 9 weeks old, we named him Michael. He was about 4-5 lbs when we got him, and I would say he is 8-9 lbs now, because he is about the size of Baby, my part mini rex, part rex, part lionhead and chinchilla mix (her parents are both mixed breeds) doe, who is pretty big (she is the one who had the cyst on her back last year).
I did some research, and I feel he may be a Checkered Giant and maybe Dutch mix? Or some other small-medium breed mix with the giant, because he is clearly not a full breed and his spots are faded. I have owned Netherland Dwarves, a New Zealand Giant, my 5 bunnies (the 4 breed mix I mentioned, Gary the Chinchilla/Lionhead, Storm the Rex/Mini Rex, Panda the Dutch/Mini Rex and his mom of the same breed, Oreo/Diva), and he looks nothing like any of them -- but the tips of his ears are pointed like my Dutch/Mini Rex mixes. Can someone please help? I would like the Humane Society to add his breed to their site. He is very energetic, loves to run around all the time, is an escape artist, likes pats but is a bit skittish. He also sheds a fair amount.
I forgot to mention the Humane Society also insisted on neutering him at 11 weeks, which I did not agree with -- that is too risky from what I understand, and I read it also hurts his potential muscle growth.
Thank you.
