ok.

she is home in her makeshift, 3 big big boxes with holes cut in them, with cellotape...home.

she is groggy. but is more awaake this morning. her right hind legs seems stiff.......... it might be the sore movement ...

and last night she lay in her own urine......:grumpy:welll....:shock:9is better face.

she is dried and lifted, *super dupper* gently o to it. n ow she is using it.

the vet is a savvy vet because i asked to see the RABBIT one. she gave me a sheet about after care and said only to look at the underlined one, because the rest was like dogs and cats.

she said about if caramel licks or bits her stiches she will get a dog collar thingon. (lampshade, victorian...) i said it would make her depressed and not eatting her eatable poos and groom.

so the soultion is i should do my home work eat ect in the same room so it is off. and only when im gone it is on.

ps. she is going back 2 get her stiches out in 13 days..

thanks

i know!!!! yay!!!!!!
she is getting a butt bath soon...... she has urine soaked in her fur again.............. ill get that looked at,......
i hope is likes the butt bath......prob not...

She should be on pain meds ; I never heard of a rabbit lying in her own urine after a spay ; she needs pain meds
If the vet did not give you any then call the vet and tell them that she needs them

also watch what she is eating and drinking. Can you give her some wet greens to encourage fluids or give her a bowl with water and a little apple juice.

if you give her a butt bath you are holding her when she is really sore. I would not do that but hold off until she has pain meds. Just lie her on a dry towel for now

the vet injected 24 hr stuff and did not say any thing.
she is drinking........... and SOME food i tempted with apple only a nibble. other than that she i s alert

should i ask about more? i did ask on the phone but what they said did not happen.....

The 24 hour injection is NOT enough. She needs them for a good few days more. Poor, poor girlie, she sounds very uncomfortable. I too would say don't give her a bath because she must be in absolutel agony. She actually sounds pretty ill to be honest. I have had a couple of issues with the bladder after spays by a less than good vet, I wonder if there was an issue with the bladder due to this surgery.

Has she got a heat source?

You can take a sock and place rice in it and then microwave it for about 1 min.

Then feel it very thoroughly to make sure that it is not hot and that the heat is evenly distributed and not real hot in one place
take the sock and place it against your face and if it feels warm and comfy then that is ok to place beside her ....(don't burn your face either)
If they won't listen to you have an authority person call and say that the rabbit needs pain meds

I'm not sure how old you are but am not attempting to be insulting to you in any way.

she has a hot water bottle inside a blanket...
im not below 10 (i dont want to tell) if ur wondering.
no, you did not insult me at all.
ill get my big big brother to read this .

The vet is shut now. But is there any way or any rabbit friendly pain meds i could give? my brother seen this and would like to know.
thanks

There are things you can use, but they are blood thinners and they wouldn't be recommended after a spay or any sort of surgery because of the risk of bleeding.

There are a few over the counter drugs that you can give a rabbit, HOWEVER not after a surgery because of blood- thinning

Just try to make her as comfy as you can with heat and fluids and . if she is eating that is a good sign
but she either urinated in one place because it hurt too much to move to the box or she has lost bladder control ..probably the first.
have your brother call the vet when they open and also watch and see if her back legs look OK in terms of moving around etc.

She'll probably be OK but it does probably hurt her.

ook. ill just keep her warm and she is moving more. but that hind leg seems really stiff,,....
but she is drinking. eatting a tiny bit.
my brother is going to. but i could as welll.

angie.......
can you give me the names of the pain meds????
and when should i beable to give them to caramel. tomorrow it will be..... 3days since the op.

You really should get her to the vet tomorrow for a check and meds at the least. They should give you Metacam, Tramadol, or buprenorphine.

Ok u need meds, Summer did not need them when she got fixed but she was running around the 1st day we got her home and never looked like she was in pain if she would of been we would of gave her pain meds.Your bunn needs pain meds she sounds like she is hurting allot u need to get her to the vet as soon as u can. hope she gets better soon:hug:
