Hey all,

I'm worried about Sprite and I was wondering if you could keep her inyour thoughts. She and Fey have been dealing with somepreviously minor issues for a little bit now, but Fey is okay andgetting better. I got a new shipment of timothy hay and theydecided they didn't like it. There's nothing wrong with it-Mocha and Loki love it. It's just softer than Fey and Spriteprefer. Since they weren't eating nearly as much hay asnormal they had some problems with diarrhea. I cut back theirpellets and veggies and they improved, but have still been picky abouttheir hay. They are eating some of the oat hay and orchardgrass, but not a whole lot. They're not pooping as much, butFey is still pooping and Sprite was.

Sprite's been uncomfortable all day. I gave her somesimethicone before I went to bed this afternoon, and again beforecoming into work tonight. I also massaged her belly which isdefinately full of gas. Poor girl is scared of being handledand was shaking with fear for a long time after that. I hadwanted to get some Pedialyte into her after the meds, but she was tooscared. She was eating this morning but isn't any more.

I'm hoping that the meds and massage will help. If shedoesn't start eating by the time I'm back home tomorrow morning(Thursday morning) I'll take her in to the vet.

Aww, I really hope Sprite starts eating andfeels better. I'll be thinking of her, the poor little darling. Sendher my love, and please keep us updated on how she isdoing.:hug2

They do make us worry, so, don't they? :nerves1

I run low onveggies or just the right pellet mix for one day,and Pipp's poops immediately shrink. One wrongleaf, Dill lookslike he's dying from a gas attack.I think they're just testing us to make sure we're on ourtoes.

I'd say to give Sprite multiple pats for us, but she probably woudln't like that. :ponder:

Reassure her that she's in the best possible hands.

She's in our thoughts, as are you.

Good thoughts and prayers for Sprite :heartbeat

Quick update: Sprite is a littlebetter. She's moving around a little, visibly less bloated, and will nibble a little on veggies. I just let her out nowso I'm going to leave her be for a bit before picking her up for moregas meds and another tummy massage. She doesn't look asuncomfortable as she did last night.

Thanks for all the good thoughts!

Sprite's about the same still, although therewas a suspicious pffffffft when James was massaging her belly thisafternoon. I just massaged her again and gotnothing. Maybe he has the magic touch?Hmm. Men and farting seem to go together!

lol:laugh:

She's still not eating, so we started syringefeeding her. I just got off the phone with the vet.My regular vet isn't in till Tuesday. The surgeon was inthough, and she works with rabbits a bit so they had me talk toher. She said to continue what we're doing, maybe add somepapaya or grind up some cilantro or parsley into the pellet/pumpkinmush. She said that they could admit Sprite, but they don'tnormally have caretakers there over the weekend and she'd be morelikely to start eating at home.

Oh, and James got her to fart some more. Men!:D

Forgot to add- she had a few very soft mucousypoops this morning and just left a few more large soft poops with awhole bunch of mucous. I still have some Benebac from Mochaand it's supposed to be good till July, so I'm going to give her thesame dose because there's only a few ounces difference between them.

I told the vet about the mucous but forgot to ask about usingBenebac. She said that some mucous wasn't unusual though.

Yay! I just got back home, and Spritehad a few NON-mucous covered poops next to her! Still big andsoft, but a definate improvement. Even better, she attackedcilantro like a furry shark! She ate a good bit of that, somepumpkin, and a bit of lettuce. I don't know if she's eatingpellets or hay yet, but she's in the clear!:happydance

Isn't it the ultimate best when you come in andsee poop? And even better when they eat something you've offered! Bestthing in the world! Glad she's feeling better :).
