Mabel has a few bumpy scabs on her body(back/sides) that are noticable when I pet her. I can partthe hair and see them. They are light colored. Someof them come off quite easily and others are pretty well stuckon. She's lived with us for about 6 weeks now, so I'd thinkthat any old injuries would have long ago healed and scabs fallenoff? Is this an indication of a skin disorder?

eta: by "a few" I mean 4 or 5 ;)

has she been fighting ?

it could be fur mites ,

it could be fleas ,

it couldbe anything ,

best bet is have a Vet check and see exactlly what it is.

This could be caused by several things. Onepossibility is fur mites. Fur mites are highly "contagious" amongrabbits. If you have trouble determining what is wrong with the bunny, definately tke it in to a vet.

Ivomec is a great medication for fur mites and all other bitinginsects. It comes as an injectable medication, but we give it orally atthe rate of 1/10 cc per lb of bunny. This has successfully removed furmites from a few of our rabbits.

She has definatly not been fighting, since she'sour only rabbit and she lives in the house. I'm thinking thiscould be fur mites?

1/10 of a cc per every "5" pounds of body weight. Ihave used Ivermectin products extensively without any problems, but asmany forum users recall, Buck's rabbit had a serious reaction to themedication. I do recommend consulting with a veterinarianbefore using any medication.
