hi

im new here! i have 2 bunnys but they are living seperatly at themoment. I have a big hutch for when i bond them but im having troublefinding a run.

i want a large one that will just go over the whole hutch, so it needsto be over 3 and a half ft tall. i cant find one anywhere though! atthe pet shop all they had were really small ones and my bunnys wouldhave banged their heads if they stood up in there!

i really dont want to have to get one of those hutches with a run builtunder it. does anyone know where i can get one. i have been searchingloads on the internet and been to every pet shop i can think of.

and its not an option to make one, i really wouldnt be able to do that and i dont have any one i could ask to make one for me.

thanks

Hi! Welcome to the forum! :welcome1

I'm not sure about a run and I know you said you didn't want to makeone but have you considered NIC cubes? They are really easyto put together and its really cheap.

It's very hard to find large runs andunfortunatelyI doubt you'll find one that high. Your best betis probably to get somebody to make one for you, then you can get thedimensions just right. I also wouldn't recommend using nic cubesbecause they aren't strong enough for rabbits to be unsupervisedoutside in asa predator could easily break in.

The only thing I could think of would be perhapsgetting one or two large dog pens and finding something to put over thetop? Perhaps a tarp stretched over and cipped onto the sides somehow?Other than that, making one yourself really isn't that hard. You onlyneed some lengths of wood, screws, wire mesh, a hand saw, wood staplesand maybe hinges if you want to make panels that will change the shape.I am not good with wood myself and don't have many tools but I havemade a few hutches and didn't find it too tricky.

I've attached a picture of a very tall dog pen. If you had two of theseyou could make one really big pen which would be pretty cool.

what about an outdoor run for a dog? these would be perfect for outdoor buns.
wow! were do you get it? My bun would loooooooooovvvvveeeeeee that!

NIC / organizer cubes are wonderful andinexpensive. You can produce a $200 cage / run for somethinglike $50-$70. Have a look here:

You also will need some wire-ties, which you can purchase from hardwareand department stores for something like $5 fot 1000 of them. The cubes come in boxes of 20-30 for $10-$20 a box and are 14" x 14".

thanks for all the replies

I might try making one myself then, I thought it would be really hard but you have made me want to try!

my mum has given me the phone number of one of my dads friends so Im going to give him a call and ask him to help me.

I couldnt beleive the sizes of some of the runs they were trying to sell me in the pet shops

Good luck:D and I'm sure you will do fine. Itusually works out a lot cheaper to make your own stuff when it comes totimber, at least it is here in NZ. A dog run like FlopsnWills showedwould be about $300 here (a timber version of that run) but I couldmake one for around $100 myself.

that dog run isn't personally mine.. i wish ihad something like that, but our yard is just way too small for my bunsto enjoy the fresh air. plus, we constantly have hawks flying above, soi don't want to risk them snatching upone of my babies!often, if you look in the sunday newspaper, people will be selling bigdog runs like the one i posted. if not, i'm sure you could order oneonline.

i strongly recommend you not build something out of NIC cubes for anoutdoor enclosure, like someone else stated. they are way too easy forpredators to climb right in and help themselves. maybe if their hutchwas inside and they were in the hutch at night, and only in the NICcubes when you're supervising?
