pulling out fur

i used to have two rabbits, miffy and shmoo, and sadly miffy died last night. both were/are 2 and a half year t old and have been together all their lives. today shmoo is obviously upset but she is eating, but the thing i'm not sure about is, she has taken to sitting on the shoe rack and when she sits there she pulls fur off her chest (i'm not sure if she is eating it, or even completely pulling it out, i will have to observe it some more, but know that she is definately pulling it) shes never done this before. i've heard that female rabbits pull out their fur when they are pregnant of have a false pregnancy, but i assume that in this case it is greif? any pointer would be helpful

Oh no,i'm so sorry you lost Miffy

Poor Shmoo!,she sounds like she's missing her buddy,it's sad because she probably doesn't understand where her buddy has gone..poor little thing

The only advice i can give is to give Shmoo plenty of extra attention,and maybe you could try giving her a stuffed toy,about the same size as her,this may help in giving her a bit of comfort

Also just keep an eye on her and see what she does with the fur.

we have given Shmoo a nice stuffed to and she loves it and is licking its lots she seems to be doing a lot better and is eating with more enthusiasm.

we are all very sad about Miffy, it was so sudden, she got GI Stasis and was on a downward spiral from there but we think that the best thing for shmoo is to look into finding a new friend or two since she has never lived on her own before.

Oh geez,GI Stasis is just awful!,i've been through it twice with two of my bunnies,Cassidy and Chocolate Bunny

I nearly lostmy little boy Cassidy,he was pretty bad,there were a lot of tears and prayers that day,it was awful,but he did pul lthrough.

I'm glad to hear that Shmoo is doing better,give her lots of kisses from me :kiss:
