Ok,
So a few weeks ago when I was on my rabbit hunt (before I decided to get Felix & Riley) I was looking threw the american classifieds and found an ad that said "Rabbits $10 ###-####" Well I called and asked what all she had, breeds, colors, ages,how many, ect and she replied with "They are just rabbits, they arnt a certain breed..just plane ol' rabbits and I have every color you can think of" I left with my husband after getting off the phone with her to come by and see them, but I couldn't help but think about what she said... "...just plane ol' rabbits" ALL rabbits ARE a breed whether it be mixed or not, there isnt JUST a rabbit and if she has every color I can think of, she must have LOTS and LOTS of rabbits!
When we arrived, I was not prepared for what I saw.
She had hundreds of rabbits! More than I could count!!! The worst part was she has them stuffed, and when I say stuffed I mean STUFFED into these rusty wire cages that were probably 10ft long by 1ft wide. She probably had 50 rabbits to a cage that size and she had around 4 cages. The bunnies literally could not turn around! They were stuffed into the cages like sardines! I couldn't believe my eyes!!!! And to make matters worse, there were NO toys, NO chew things, NO food dishes, but there was a little water bottle on one side. It was SO horrible! She also had about 10 babies that were probably around 5 weeks old in a TINY little wire cage next to the others. Almost all the babies had eye problems and were skinny as could be. They looked horrible! Behind them was a huge probably 10ft by 10ft wire cage with about 15 nesting boxes in it. Those bunnies had lots of room, but again no toys, no chew things, no food dishes, no nothing. I was so upset by then I was almost in tears.. it was the worst thing I had ever seen!
I asked the lady where there food and hay was and she said she feeds them once a day and throws the food in with them. And then said that she doesn't give them hay because its to expensive and she has too many to give them hay. After that I asked her how she holds, clips nails, and gives attention to the rabbits in the 10ft by 10ft cage because of how wide it is, there really isnt any way to getting there. She laughed and said she hasn't touched any of those rabbits in years! My jaw dropped! I was so angry and upset at her by then I couldnt even look at her anymore!
After that I told her I wanted to leave. On the way home I called the Animal control, gave them the address and told them they NEED to go over there and take care of the situation, and that I wanted the rabbits taken away form her. They said they would have someone go check it out. Well, I got a call back fro a guy who went looking for the lady's house and he said he couldn't find it so they were not going to do anything about it and if I wanted something done, I need to help and give a address they can find! WTF!!! I was so mad! I gave them the address but yes, its hard to find but not that hard! I even gave them directions... I think they were just to lazy to go do anything! I don't know what else to do, I am so upset!
That is pure ANIMAL CRUELTY!!! :bawl: It breaks my heart...

Those poor bunnies. That's horrible that she keeps them like that . . . I really hope that animal control will do something.
