So, I'd been using hardboard without any covering on for the past few months for the cage shelving, and it's got really dirty- a couple of pee stains, etc etc.

So today while we were out I went and got all new hardboard cut to size and everything, and went to get lino tiles...

I found THE best ones!! :biggrin2:

I've just finished sticking the lino to the shelves and I'm about to fit it to the cage and then post pics...

But I've just gotta say that all of the girls will love it! Maybe not so much Barney lol! :p

Pics soon!

Ok, pics!!

They didn't come out great because it's so dark in here, being nearly midnight lol. And the 2 shelves at theback of the top level haven't been done because I ran out of pink tiles! Noooooo!!!

But here's what it looks like:

Ok, please ignore the state of the floor in their cage- it's a state because they are messy bunnies!! I just did a quick sweep out to take the pics.... And I want to cover the floor on the bottom with white tiles maybe because it clashes at the moment lol! :p

But I'm stupidly excited that the bunnies have a pink cage!! Barney has not been in it once since I fitted them

And the tiles aren't too slippery? They look great, though!
Nope.... they don't seem to be! They are very smooth but slightly textured on the surface so they're not really slippy... and all 3 buns have hopped up and down pretty happily.... Barney just went in! He seems to like it lol... :)

I've been telling hubby that we need to do a cage rebuild...maybe I'll use tiles, too. :D

Course, I can't ask you where you got yours, as I'm sure we don't have the same stores here. hehe

Sadly no.... :( but I did get mine at B&Q and they were actually the cheapest ones! They had either pink, blue or white and were only £2.98 for a pack of 6!! :D I honestly can't imagine why people would want to tile a whole floor in either a kitchen or bathroom pink though lol....

Lino covered hardboard is a great thing for shelves too! It makes it really easy to sweep hay etc out, and it just wipes clean. When I was using just hardboard any squishy poo etc would stick to it and any pee stains would just leave horrible white marks etc. The new shelves are just sat on as well- they're cut to fit round the connectors, which hold them in place, but you can easily take them out for cleaning, etc! :)

Great choice, my favorite color!
What, exactly, is hardboard?
I'd like to cover Flynn's loft (currently just towels over it) and put something beneath the fleece floor... still deciding what.

Hmmm.... it's sort of the same material as pegboard, but without the holes :) That's the best way I can think to describe it!!

Like a cross between really thick cardboard and wood....

:)

Oooooh lovely! :D
If Maddie was messy with her fleece I would get the like of that. I might for Ebony and Ruby's hutch actually, they are really messing it up. :p

I'm so jealous! I tried lino tiles when I rebuilt Tobi's condo, but she was so slippy on them. I even got the ones with some texture. She's pretty clumsy, though! Now she just has plain plywood. I've caught her stretching on it, and she even scrambles a little to get back up. I envy all of you with graceful rabbits! (Also, Tobi is really fond of *licking* the plywood. I worry about her getting splinters in her tongue, but there's not much I can do to deter her.)

It looks so pretty! Lino tiles seem very expensive here :grumpy:.

Can I ask, how do you keep your shelves looking so stiff? Mine all sag at the joins or bounce like a trampoline when Sakura jumps up :?.

Those are awesome! I love the pink!

Mitre 10 mega pack of 6 for 6.98 in blue paper packaging but they dont seem very sticky......and dont come in nearly as nice colours though:(

Oh that's not so bad! The last ones I saw were over $10 a pack, that seems much better, hmm, how big are they? The ones I saw once weren't like lino at all, they were really thin, pretty much just plastic stickers.

Sorryfor threadjacking Jen:)

They're pretty thick lick lino maybe a tad thinner but no bunny's gona be digging thru these anytime soon:p

I'm just pming you all the details and im in the process of uploading a photo to photobucket so you can get a better look:)

Oh, okay :) Can you get it at Hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowes?
Erm, I don't know as I'm in the UK, but I would imagine so! I'm sure thats where those places sell pegboard if I remember correctly :)

Thanks! Um, we have grids all along with connectors, and all cable tied together with about 6 cable ties. Then we have a big 1inch thick dowel rod cable tied all along just underneath about 3 squares back from the edge of the shelf? Actually we have the grid that goes down in the middle as well that supports it, being that the cage is 6 grids long. You can see it in the first picture I think? And the top shelf has the grid that connects to the bottom shelf which connects to the 'pillar' under that, plus dowel rods both ways- front to back and side to side.....

Does that make sense? Lol!

Oh, and hijack away guys! :D
