My shelves are only two grids wide, so I don't know why they seem so floppy :?. They are zip tied and use connectors, I must need some of those rod thingies.

Dowell rods are the best! The round ones are better, for some reason they seem to bend less.... the secret is to cable tie them in as many places as possible- including at the walls at either end so it takes the slack well enough..
