hey my 11 year old wants a bunny-- how do i know which type to choose? wewent to the humane society. does age matter? thanks sandy

A grown rabbit is usually a better choice, as youcan by-pass those difficult "teenage" years. Each individualrabbit may differ in personalities, although the larger breeds areoften more "laid back" and less flighty.

My all-time favorite bunnies are male Palominos. They are big, but not too big, funny, happy, relaxed, great with kids, playful.

They do spray, though, so unless you are used to male bunnies and don'tmind changing clothes A LOT, it's best to get him neutered.

They look like this:

My second favorite is female Holland Lops. They can be almost uncannilysweet, gentle, quiet, small, love attention. However, females do tendto be somewhat moody and aggressive. I was lucky to getoneperfect lady. Oh, they also tend to be a bit fearful and like you tomove slow.

They look like this:

Have fun choosing!!

I would ask the type of personality the bunny has you are looking at.

We got a baby, and I wouldn't give him up for the world, but if I everget another one, I will adopt an adult who needs a home. There are so many who have been neutered/spayed, love cuddles andkisses, etc.

A rabbit in good health will live several years.... some from 8 to12. I know someone with a 12 year old right now that actslike a teenager! LOL!

Will this be an inside bunny? Some cannot be outside due totheir size, etc, depending on temps. Hot temps are worse forthem than the cooler temps. Check for a House Rabbit Society in yourarea. They foster bunnies that need homes as well.

If you think you want one that likes to be picked up, ask about that.... one that is playful with toys, ask about that.....

If you need help on feed, bedding and all that, everyone here is very helpful.... just holler :)
