Is there such thing? I have female rabbits, ageabout 6months. I've never heard them shriek/bunny-purr or anything..Just a few sneeze.Thats all. They live in a same cage since they wereabout 3months old. Just curious whether they are mute or quiet

Rabbits are generally pretty quiet. Rabbits don't normally shriek unless they are in pain or think they are in serious danger.

The only sounds I hear from my girls is sometimes a grunt from Pebbles,humming/oinking sounds when they go near each others cage, and if I'mreally really close to their faces and rubbing their ears I hear toothpurrs.

They are probably just quiet. Youshould be happy that you have never heard them shriek! Iusually don't hear my rabbit purr but I can always feel it!

It is probably possible for rabbits to be mute but I doubt that is thecase with your rabbits. Rabbits are just very quiet animals!

Hmmm okay! =) but I had an adult bunny lasttime,he was very friendly and talks alot to me.. Hepurrs/oink/shriek..but he is always oinking at me..Loves to play withme, but these two bunnies,i think they prefer being happy with eachother instead with humans..THats what i feel, but its ok..I just want tohear them purr,i miss that sound..Never heard anything from them sinceIve got them 3 months ago

I know that for the most part rabbits do it in pain but I have two that do it when angry. When wanting attention.

Just for the record, I heard the late BunBunshreik once! It is something you DO NOT want tohear. I swear, the whole neighborhood had to hear it.

I had him out on a leash type thing, and he caught his back foot in thestring, couldn't get it out and flopped on the driveway andscreamed. I never did that again.:imstupid

wow..okay.. nah,he shrieks when hes angry at me..but it hate to hear him scream.. its noisy.. lol ..

Your rabbit screams? Screaming and shrieking isnot normal. Rabbits don't shriek when they are angry. Grunt, sure, butthey don't shriek. If they are shrieking or screaming, they are eitherextremely terrified and feel in danger, or they are in bad pain.

bangbang doesnt make any sounds... the only 'noise' she makes is her thumping her foot when she's angry at me

I have heard Teresa do it when I am leaving theroom. I turn and she is sitting in the middle of the cage looking atme. I used to think something must be wrong so I would take her out andput her on the bed with me. She would than hop around like nothing.

Connor has done it when put back into his cage.

So either my bunnies are either weird or I am missing something.

Jade, please specify what sound you mean when you say Teresadoes it. The shreiking or grunting? I am justcurious.

No, rabbits should never shriek or scream, MBH is right.

Just for the record, when I am at Angel's cage and I talk lightly toher and tell her how pretty she is and stuff, after each of mysentences she lightly grinds her teeth, it's so cute. BTW- alight grinding of the teeth means they're happy!:D

yeah, i sometimes get "tooth purrs" if I use a certain tone of voice, too.

And screaming aside, some bunnies are very vocal and make lots of sounds. Some don't.

My first bunny never made any sounds, except forthumping. My second rabbit grunts a lot, and my third rabbitmakes a sound that I can't quite describe. He kinda snoressometimes and while he is chewing something he almost grunts, but he isnot angry. So it just depends on the bun!

High pitch squeal, maybe. She hasnt done it since she has been with Dallas. Didnt like being alone maybe?

I get the toothpurrs alot. :bunnyheartWhen Itouch my bun's stuff, she grunts at me. :growl:She also makes astrained noise when she turns to wash her back, it funny. Once when shewas really mad at me for picking her up, she made an audible noise, itwasn't a grunt, or a screech, it was a mix of both.

Cocoa never makes any noise either.Well, besides the sound he makes when he runs in circles aroundme! (not sure what that would be called) I onlyever hear Cocoa shredding paper or drinking from his water bottle.
