While in town today shopping I saw a sign at the end ofa driveway, rabbits for sale. I stopped to be nosey and see how this person's rabbitry was set up, being new at this and all.I was taken into shed and told to hold my breath as the rabbits smell a little. Huh? Mine don't smell at all. What I saw was horrifing!! 2/3 rabbits per cagethe cages were no bigger than1' by 2' . No water, no food, mountains of poop in each cage. No ventalation whatso ever.I picked up a big fawn rabbit and it was a skelatin with fur. I wanted to buy all 22 rabbits, aged 8 weeks to 1 year but left.I felt so sorry for the poor things.I drove staight to our local S.P.C.A and filed a complaint and they are going out first thing to rescue these poor rabbits. They knew exactly who I was talking about, said they took 200 rabbits from him 2 years ago and charged him with cruelty and neglect. Why would people treat their animals this way! I don't understand people sometimes.

Yayyy for people like you who will go out of their way to report such a thing and save all those poor buns!!! I hope they monitor this man more closely in the future so he doesn't have the opportunity to be so cruel again!

^^^^^I second that.

You hear so many terrible stories of neglect and abuse by people that you forget there is good in the world. Yay for you for taking action. Hopefully these buns will find the care they deserve.

Keep me posted!

Haley

OH WOW...it amazes me that this man has been charged before, and he's now doing it again!! (Or still doing it.)

Good for you for reporting it!! Lots of people would just leave and not care.

Maisie and Flower do a Happy Bunny Dance for you and those bunnies that will now have happier lives thanks to your love.

:bunnydance: You did EXACTLEY what you're supposed to do!! I know it can be SO tempting to rush in there and be the hero yourself but people that abuse animals are frequenlty very violent towards people as well - go home, tell the authorities & follow up.

GOOD JOB!!!!! :D

Nes.

I agree with Nes...yes, it's so tempting, but ultimately the person will have also made money from your rescue, and who can tell if you'll get it back? Not only that, but I called the police after rescuing Flower (my neighbor gave her to me willingly), and he said that since the neighbor surrendered care of her to me, they couldn't do anything about the fact that animal neglect had occurred. He said they have to do it based on something CURRENTLY occurring. So, you did exactly the right thing. I don't know how the laws differ per state/country, but that's what they told me for my area. :)

GOOD JOB!! :bunnydance::bunnydance:

Animal cruelty is just one ofthe lowest things that a human beingcan do:X,it is cruel and nasty to keep animals in that kind of a way,it makes me feel so sorry for these poor creatures

i'm glad you reported them:)

I dropped in the SPCA this morning and they did indeed go and remove the rabbits, they were only able to save 10 of the younger rabbits, the rest were too far gone.:(I wish I had found this place sooner or someone else had made it their business to report this guy. There should be tougher penalties for people who mistreat animals and people should report abuse or neglect everytime they see it, wether it be a pet or a farm.

Aww...those poor little sweeties...

Binky free, little babies!!

That's one for each bunny that didn't make it. We love you!!
:inlove::rose:

I have a huge hatred for this kind of thing. People need to get their heads out of their :censored2and start taking responsibilty. Grow up you idiots and learn some respect.

I agree...sounds like this guy is only in it for the money. How much were those bunnies being sold each?

Not only is he an idiot, he's dumb as a doornail as well. In that condition, people buying them for pets probably would be eaqually as stupid. Poor things being left to sit in their own mess and for what? So he can overcharge and sell some poor crature for $15. Flippin jerk. The SPCA should have a close eye on him, and make sure he isn't allowed to own animals, let alone improperly breed them.

:mad:

Here's an idea...think you could go by where he lives like once a month to be sure he's not trying to do it again?
