Hello,
I am currently in the process of finding a reliable company to purchase rabbit insurance from. What companies do you all recommend, use, and advise against for rabbit insurance? I'm looking for a basic plan of around $15 per month (unless it has awesome benefits for more $). My older rabbit (age 4.5 years) is healthy to the best of my knowledge, this will simply be a preventative measure - specifically looking for something that covers illnesses and injuries, and preferably dental and wellness. So far, I am mainly leaning towards Nationwide's $12 bird & exotic monthly plan with a $50 deductible yearly. They cover 90% of the vet bills. It covers illness, injury, and accidents - Not wellness, but my wellness checkup is around $60 so that works for covering my deductible.
The max I have spent in a year was $1,250 for my rabbit (it was a tough year including spay, surgeries, and two rounds of G.I. stasis) and the least I have spent in a year was $95 (I learned home remedies, switched the pellet & hay brand, and used other resources). So average yearly costs are around $350 I believe. This being said, is insurance worth it considering the costs I have spent in the past? My rabbit is getting older, and I want something as a preventative measure, as she will be prone to more health related issues due to older age.
Thank you!
