Hi Louise , welcome to the forum ,

cutting black nails is a touchtrickey , what i woulddo the very first timeis just nip the very end off ,the realy sharp part , let the quick drawback a bit, for a couple days, then nip a bit more , If youhave never clipped nails beforeits best to have a vet orsomeone who knows how to do ithelp and show you how. Havea little corn starch on hand just incaseyou nick the quick itcan bleed alot , or you canalso use a product for birdscalled Quick Stop , its sulfur based, I know its safe for birds butnot too sure for rabbits ,

Thank-you. Yes i will get some ready!!! I will doexactly as you say!! seen my website. what breed is your rabbit by theway? thanx -love lou x

Hi Louise!!

Welcome to the forum!

I use a flashlight behind the nail to help locate the quick. I do thisfor both the light and dark colored nails. Works really well, and it'salways good to have another set of hands to help.

My daughter and I did two buns with dark nails last night. It tookabout 15 minutes total.

I use QuikStop on my rabbits and I have been using it for 5 years and it has never had a negative effect on my rabbits. :D
