my bunny's tummy has been gurgling! i don't know if this is common or anything, but she shouldn't be hungry! she has been eating when i give her food. the only thing i can think of that might be wrong is that i changed her litter box around 12 last night and there is no poop in it. is something wrong with her? should i take her to the vet?

please help!

Rabbit stomachs do make a little noise, but normally it's not loud. She could be having gas problems. You can give her simethicone (baby gas meds) to help with that.

Yep, at the drugstore, look for baby gas medication - then look at the medicinal ingredients on the box. At least one of them will be Simethicone.

If she's still eating/drinking/pooping/peeing normal, then I wouldn't worry too much about the gurgling. I would give her the simethicone and watch her for signs of pain (loud teeth grinding, hunched up position). And watch her food intake/output. What also helps for gas is tummy rubs, and make her run around - the movement helps break up the gas bubbles.

I probably wouldn't take her yet if everything else is fine except for the gurgles. If you are really worried though - then taking her can't hurt.

hm, she doesn't really want to run. she just takes a few hops then hides behind the sofa or under the table. maybe she's just bein lazy. i'll try taking her for a run later.

No poops is not good, but it does sound like gas. It's important you follow the advice in this thread. If she's acting lethargic and doesn't have any poops, try the baby gas medicine first (if you haven't already), and it that doesn't work in a few hours, she'll probably have to get to thevet. She sounds like she's in pain, and if not treated, it could snowball and get worse.

Keep her moving (even though she doesn't want to) and try and massage her tummy.

Re: the gas meds, brand names depend on where you live, I use Ovol, and depending on the size of the rabbit, they need more than you would give a baby. I've got small rabbits and still give them a half to three-quarters of a dropperful once an hour for up to three hours. (They usually get better after two, though).

Let us know how she's doing!

well, after she exercised and at her veggies, she got a lot better! i haven't heard anymore gurgles and she's pooping normal again. she's also been more alert and active. i think the running helped a lot...
