Hi all. :)

Well - my general nickname is Fishy, or Pel, but I'm fine with being called "Flicker"(the name of my previous rabbit).

I'm new to rabbits - done my research, but as far as physical experience I lack in that.

My previous rabbit Flicker, was a Netherland Dwarf, who, as near as I can figure, died from intestinal blockage.

I had him housed with my guinea pig, and when his hormones kicked in(my guinea pig was female), I separated the two with a storage container and a blanket ontop to avoid his feet from slipping through any holes in the storage container if he jumped ontop of it.

Well. needless to say he started digging at and swallowing small pieces of the blanket - which, again, as near as I can figure, blocked his digestive tract to the point he nearly starved to death.

My rabbit now is Honey:

I got her at the pet store, because she was the last bunny left, and I felt terrible that she was in that cage all alone.

So far, she's a royal piss-ant, lol. She's a hopper, not a cuddler. She's good at using her litter-box(except for the few stray poos that I swear she pops out for decoration). We're in the process of working on a bigger habitat for her, so I'm pretty excited about that.

She's so far twice the size that Flicker was, and if the clerks at the pet store were correct on her age at the time, she's about 7 months old.

Honey's best friend currently is our cat, and she enjoys being bapped at and promptly running around in circles.

But I've got no issues with her personality - to each his/her own; anyways, as far as I'm concerned, my rabbit doesn't need me, she can take perfectly good care of herself, much like a cat. Not that I'd test that theory, but that is my opinion.

Anywho - that's all I can really mention for right now. Pleased to be here.

Welcome to RO! :bunny24

Honey is a beauty; she does look spunky and independent. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your previous rabbit, how tragic. Binky free, Flicker. That's wonderful that Honey's potty box habits are generally good. I've heard it can be an issue with unaltered rabbit's. The stray poopies do have a purpose, it's a territory marking behavior. Usually spaying and neutering can really improve the issue of stray poppies, I know it did with my boy Dunkin! I rarely find strays now. Of course there's always those type of rabbits that just plan old like to do it. Thankfully rabbit poo's are very easy to clean up, unlike with other animals.

See you around the forum!

I do plan on spaying Honey, as I know of the high risk of female rabbits and cancer.

Honey is very independent; her eyes are always wide open looking around.

But yeah, I intend to adopt a neutered male whenever I can get Honey spayed, since, seeing as how she's older than 6 months, her territorial behavior won't go away whenever I can get her spayed. And I don't want to risk her territorial aggression being too much for another female. Any suggestions would be adored, but as males are typically more subdued, I think it would be the best option for her.

But yes, she took to the litter-box very well, it took a couple of days and she was a natural. :)

Welcome to the forum! This is a very friendly site and there is a lot of knowledge available. I look forward to seeing more pictures of your beautiful rabbit and hearing about your life as a bunny slave.
