French lop versus flemish

Just wondering out of curiosity, what the sizedifference is between the 2 and personality differences if anyoneknows, you see i always wanted a huge cuddly bunny so i went to abreeder and they said french is about the same size as flemish so i gota french lop,but i don't think that the size thing is truenow from seeing other pics! and mine is grumpy about being picked up sojust wondering...

I had both and rehomed the french lop to someone who really wanted her badly. I'm so glad I did.

Their personalities are WAY WAY different. Flemish are much more laidback and gentle. They may not be cuddlers (although some may be) butthey are pretty easy going.

My french lop was territorial and mean (she was a doe and that couldhave had something to do with it). She had a LOT more energy than Tiny(my flemish) and needed to get out and run around the yard more.

I don't think I'd have a french lop again. They're really great rabbits but for my temperament - the flemish is better for me.

We have flemish... quite a few of them.. and welove them to death... They've got the sweetest temperments and quirks.We have a doe that my brother use to bring in the house all the timeand she claimed this spot on the couch as hers. One day when my dad waslaying on the couch she jumped up on him and when she couldn't get toher spot, she nipped him right on the but. Once he moved, she wascontent and then he laid back down on the couch...

The flemish have great personalities and mine are all cuddlers, especially my Chester, because he's my miracle baby.

One of the buns that was recommended highly tome was a spayed French who was very sweet and gentle. She was a tadoverweight at the time, and much bigger than any bun I'd planned for -and has since gotten adopted. (If I'd thought to build my NIC condo abit larger, she would have been a very likely candidate for me...)

I also know someone who had a pair of French lops as house pets - hesays they were very laid-back and a great deal of fun. (Not sure oftheir sexes.)

So perhaps temperament varies in this breed, as in others?

It depends on the breeder to be honest in myopinion. There is one breeder who sells a lot of Frenchies here as petsand her whole herd is amazingly sweet. This is from what I have seenand from what others have told me. If I ever get a big rabbit, it willbe from her as I have yet to hear of her having a single mean rabbit.

We've had the same luck with our Flemish. Theonly one we've had that was less than social was one we bought when wefirst started, other than that, we've had great luck.

Well thanks for all youropinions ithink from what you have said that i will just look at the breedersmore closely when i next get a big bun for how they are brought upbecause from having had my own babies and handling them, they are sotame and friendly i can't bear to think of how little pet shop bunniesare handled, they obviously just aren't!!! but i think i'm going to gofor a good bred flemish so it will be big!

Bangbang is really sweet, she's very bossy andlikes doing things her way but she always loves a cuddle... wellDEMANDS a cuddle, she is queen bee and you will do what she wants.
The other lops i've rehomed have been similar, very confident but still affectionate

My sister had french lops for awhile, none werefriendly.although we bought them from a big breeder and all were fullgrown when we got them.I know 2 breeders of french lops and none ofthem seemed very friendly,the rabbits not the people.bluebird

I have had both and prefer the FrenchLop. Cleo is my heart bunny, not a mean bone in herbody. I had, and still have one, flemish buck, neither ofwhich are as friendly or as laid-back as my French Lop doe. Iam getting all my recent buns from a shelter, but I will not hesitateto get another French Lop from a breeder.
