Eric is moving into a new place over the weekend....and Art went up this morning to help him.

When I talked to Eric this morning - he did not sound good at all. It was obvious he was having an asthma attack and he simply said it had started earlier and he was "resting".

I spoke to him about 10 pm tonight....he slept this afternoon since he works graves and while he did sleep some - the attack did NOT let up. He is out of his inhalers....although he was going to try to take some Primatene tablets which have helped attacks were less major. He also happened to mention that it started at 4:30 am.

So for about 18 hours...he'd been having issues breathing - he said he was taking about 1/4 to 1/3 breaths of what he normally breathes.

Can I go up there and kick his rear? He doesn't really know much about his medical insurance for work although he does have some..... Art and I talked after Eric called in to work to get someone to cover him....and Art is taking him to the ER for a treatment.

I'm heading to bed...I'm wiped out and need the sleep and there is nothing I can do from here....I can't kick my son in the butt when he's 200 miles away.

But for anyone who believes in praying - sending good thoughts - whatever - please do so.

I don't think Eric has had an attack this bad in quite a long while. I am hoping the hospital doesn't admit him and they can get it under control in the ER.

Eric is supposed to text me tonight from his cell phone - so I'll update this thread when I get up in the morning..

Oh no! I really hope Eric is okay! He is such a nice and smart guy! How scary. I used to deal with attacks when I was younger...to the point where my face was purple and I was about to pass out. It always happened in the middle of class, too.

I just sent a message to his phone to let him know I'm heading to bed - and he replied saying he just got out of the ER and was heading in to work and feeling better.

Still yet, I'm concerned about whatever set this off....I'm suspecting it was beause it was unusually cold yesterday and he was running errands...

(Now to pray he/we can afford the ER bill!)

Peg

Oh man...too true about the bill...ugh!

Maybe it was the stress of moving, combined with the errands, and cold?

I hope he's okay now...and hope he has the meds he needs...let him know that I'm praying for him, ok?

I'm happy to hear that your son is ok...thank goodness....having an asthma attack can be very scarey.......Jeremy my son had an asthma attack when he was 6 years old.....he was struggling for breath and i had to race him to the emergency room.....i was so terrified for him...but he was put on an ventilator....and was ok a few hours later.

So glad your son is ok though

Hi Peg,

I'm glad to hear Eric is doing better!
Tell him to take care of himself and not make it worse!!

If he has even the most basic coverage through his work, it should cover ER visits with a deductible of like $25-$50

The cold air and activity were probably the cause.

My asthma is well under control and even I have to be careful this time of year.

I usually keep a Primatene inhaler on hand. Tastes nasty, fast-acting, works ok...but can cause a bit of mucous, it's cheap and available, and it's good to have in case of an emergency.

:hug1

Too cold of air is HORRIBLE for asthma! I have a time of it myself sometimes. Also, does he have allergies to dust? I do and when I move things around (like when we moved my sister) it seems my asthma kicks up.

Can I please send Eric a huge kick in the behind for not having an inhaler around? :pleaseplease:

I'm glad he's ok now. :)

I just sent a message to his phone to let him know I'm heading to bed - and he replied saying he just got out of the ER and was heading in to work and feeling better.

Ugh...nothing like having a child living far away and worrying about them (that's why parents wind up with gray hair, I'm sure).

I'm so glad to read that he's doing better Peg, though it must've been highly stressful for you and Art. I'll keep Eric in my thoughts and prayers; may his asthma continue to improve and not give him any more problems...

I had two text messages this morning from him - one at 4:30 am that he was having a hard time breathing and was going to have to get a prescription filled for his albuterol....and then at 7:25 that he was home and was feeling better (he did work last night).

I'm concerned but I'm so glad Art is up there.

I just spoke on the phone w/ Eric a bit ago. He just turned in his keys for the old apartment and he and Art are going to Pizza Hut for lunch and using one of Eric's gift cards from us....and then Art will be heading home. WOO HOO.

I loved what Eric wrote me last night about his dad..

Dad is tired. He got pretty much everything over while I slept. Does he know what stop means?

Anyway, Eric sounds much much better when we talk on the phone....his breathing is doing a lot better than it was. Thanks to all those who sent up good thoughts and prayers for him - they worked!

Peg

P.S. Rosie - I just did a photoshoot of the babies - wait till you see them....I'm going to upload the videos to my computer now...

Such wonderful news...I'm SO happy he's doing better...that's so wonderful!

Ooh...baby pics!! YAY!! I can't wait to see the little wriggly wrigglies...

Except, wait, didn't you say they're RUNNING now?!

Hey Peg,

How's he doing? They didn't give him any prednisone? Did they do an x-ray? I went in two weeks ago myself. I've been having the worst time this year so I know how your son feels. The treatments can knock you out pretty good :?I hope he is feeling better! Just last week I was given prednisone prescriptions to do some treatments at home plus Atrovent. Did he ever take Combivent? I can't figure how to actually take the stuff. It's so strong that I choke on it. Lol :?

I figure since he was getting ready to move he was probably packing, lifting things, finding plenty of dust bunnies etc... I ended up at the ER the first night I moved into the appartment. Lol, so I think that might have set his off as well. Especially if you say it was cold...

I'm so glad Eric is doing better. I bet his dad is tired! Now he's going to need a rest and you've been running yourself ragged for over a month I know!

Rest. Hold a bunny and watch a tv show.
