I was wondering are cord protectors helpful? And if there are were is a good place to buy them?

The reason why I said Canadian Tire, is because last week I went there and they had the long vacuum hoses for $5.99.

You have Home Depot, right? I bought something called "flex tubing" from them here in a US store and it works well for hanging cords (like from a lamp). Raceways would probably be better for longer distances. (They have weird names for something that should be called "cord protectors" for some reason.)

A bag of 3/8" diameter, 10' length flex tubing cost me less than $5 USD. They have larger diameter if you have thicker cords, or if you want to have two cords in the same tube.

My rabbits aren't huge cord chewers, though. It's just ribbed plastic, so it could be chewed through if a rabbit really went after it. (That's probably true of anything that's not made of metal, though :))

We've tried a variety of products, some with success, some not. The ribbed plastic seemed the way to go because it is cheap and easy to use; but, our buns seemed to enjoy chewing it as much as the cord. It didn't stop them from cutting the wires.

Next, we tried clear plastic tubing and slit it lengthwise. That was a little bit better, especially the thicker-walled stuff; but, to me it was expensive and a pain to cut. Some buns still managed to chew through it; but, at least they didn't cut the wires inside.

Our best solution is reasonable cheap: Spiral wrap tubing from Cable Ties and More.

It is fairly dense and hard to chew; but, a determined bunny can bite between the turns. We only lost one 89¢ phone cord wrapped with the spiral stuff. We got a 100-foot roll of 1/8-inch size for $10 and another 100-foot roll of 1/4-inch for $13.36.

It is a bit tiresome to wrap the cords with it; but, in most cases you'll only need to do it once. If the wire is especially dangerous--such as something carrying house voltage, I'll wrap it with two layers. In once case I put the clear plastic tubing on, first, then wrapped it with the 1/4-inch spiral. No bunny has ever attempted to bite through it.

In most instances it is easier to enclose wiring, such as under a desk, with bookcase cube wire mesh panels.

I may have to try the spiral wrap tubing! The flex tubing is great for bunnies who just nibble now and then and/or are mostly supervised but I've always been iffy about trusting it fully unsupervised. I've considered the hard plastic stuff but foresaw the same issues you mentioned having with it and didn't bother coughing up for it.

As for the storage cubes, the best deal I know of in the US is at Sears - 6 cubes/23 grids for around $22 (found in the garage shelving section of the store). I never seem to be able to find them on the website when I can't recall the brand name but when I go to the store they always still sell them.

I use hard square plastic cord covers that clips together. I used a saw to cut it to sizes I needed. I do hang my cords as well, up high on the wall, so that the cords and cover are vertical. These are wide so bunny mouths, so far, have not even been tempted. I use the wrap cords, plastic spiral ones that are quite thin, I think the ones alluded to above, to wrap the parts where these covers meet the plug in the wall or any exposed bits and then slide the square cover over this as far as it will go, which is most of the way. Together this system has worked well for me.
