THEY'RE HERE! FINALLY, THEY'RE HERE!!!:inlove::pinkbouce::jumpforjoy::party::yes::happyrabbit::trio

Andy and I made it to Ohio around 1:30PM after driving through driving rain and then into beautiful warm sunshine (we won't have that here in NY until Monday or Tuesday) and the landscape was gorgeous where the rabbitry was.

All the rabbits were gorgeous and had meticulous housing - the top senior buck in the nation also resided there and he was an outstanding individual.

So, drumroll please...

We have a broken black junior buck named Jared, a broken blue buck who is yet unnamed...an older junior broken black doe that I am going to call Roxanne and her two younger sisters who are littermates...five Checkered Giants total...

Andy was in Checkered Giant heaven and while he is not often motivated to do things in the barn he was helping to get everyone set for the night as the outdoor hutches are wet and not quite ready.

Thanks to all my RO friends who supported me through the anguish of trying to find a breeder and through the Checkered Giant Express...I am grabbing my glass of wine and a book and relaxing on the couch now after 16+ hours of driving.

Whew!

Pictures of the new crew tomorrow!

The boys have a big outdoor hutch - the younger girls have a temporary outdoor hutch (I don't like the design) and Roxanne has an indoor cage until Andy gets up and pieces it together for me.

Jared was growling at me this AM so he will need lots of attention (I am up to the task) - I gave him and his brother some toys and they have lots of room in the cage for binkies, Checkered Giant style and to run around. While Andy doesn't care for the name, I am naming the blue buck Remington, Remy for short. He LOOKS like a Remington.

They are already thumping their hind feet. The breeder said they can stay together for another two weeks and then they will need to go to separate cages.

Juliette and Roxanne have been looking at each other...it is funny but Roxanne is so huge next to her English Spot cousin.

The baby does were very snuggly - and I love their huge ears. I'm up for name suggestions as I have not looked up baby names yet for these girls.

Juno, who is very standoffish, is now coming up to the front of her cage for attention, so the addition of the Checkered Giants have been a positive thing as she now wants my attention, rather than me seeking it.

Axel is still the character I love so much - he was like "Whoa, look at all the ladies... are they for ME?!"

Turnout time in the barn will be even more fun...

Pictures in a bit - gotta put away laundry.

Update on 24 hours with Checkered Giants... The little does I named Grace and Calliope and they respond to the names by standing on their hind legs. They are just adorable but very similar in their markings - I can only tell them apart as Calliope has a tiny spot next to her spine marking and her tail has a white line in the marking. Grace has lacing in her left hand side markings so I know who I am talking to. :) Jared and Remington were not as "thumpy" today... they cowered down when they saw me at first but then they were at the front of the cage to see what I had to offer. Remy is the shyer of the two but once he realized I wasn't going to hurt him, he was ready to venture closer to see what I was all about. Roxanne is the older doe and she is a character. As she has the smallest cage, she had a lot of turnout time today. Weatherly decided she had to check out the really big bunny who kept trying to check her out. I got half-binkies from Grace today... and not to forget Juliette, Juno or Axel... Juliette chinned me today, just to remind me that she is still as big a presence as ever. Juno was socializing at the front of her cage and Axel gave me a sniff but no chinning the way I would like. Ah, to be surrounded by bunnies. I feel like I will finally sleep well tonight. Mods - you can post there is an UPDATE on this thread so folks know to check the pics. Thank you!!!!:jumpforjoy: Denise

And they are all juniors... wonder how much more those ears will grow... guess if I have trouble with TV reception they can double as RABBIT EARS... LOL

After years of raising Holland Lops, the "stickety up ears" are nice to get used to.:inlove:

Oh wow...they are such a gorgeous breed, aren't they? I can't imagine having one in-person. I love that black around the nose and the black ears. What beautiful buns!! :D

I just love them... thanks to my son Andy to convincing me to go for this breed....last night check had everyone settled in but they came up to see me and even Juliette chinned me after she gave me a nip... I feel loved. :)

Great to see the express finally ran on time ;) . You've been very patient for a VERY long time!

Is this the beginning of a Checkered Giant stock to make lovely BIG babies? Those ears are absolutely killer :)

BTW, I adore Calliope's name :D how musical!
