i have a question about cages. i'm getting aholland and i've had a friend tell me the problems with her outsidecages and give me some suggestions that stop some of the problems inthe winter. my question is, is it ok to have the enclosed part of thecage with a wire bottom? it gets really cold here, like -30 and colder.i dont want the rabbit to get cold so if it has to be nclosed i'm surethat can be done. if it has to be enclosed completely should i get thatcoroplast stuff so the wood doesnt rot?

Do you have a shed? Or could you put the hutchin the garage in winter? My mother-in-law used to breed rabbits butsold off her stock when the shed burned down (all the rabbits made itout okay). She didn't want to keep them outside in winter. She and Iboth live in Wisconsin and -30 happens sometimes without even countingthe wind chill in.

we dont have a shed and the car has to go in thegarage cus it wont start in the winter. its not big enough for the cageto. its gets to -40 here without counting windchill

You cant have the bun in the house?

And if it gets that cold, I think Id give the bunny a place to go thatwas pretty well enclosed. With lots of straw or something to curl upin. Gosh thats just cold!
