    Metoclopramide -- A Different Perspective

First, I want to say how much I appreciate the information on thisforum ... especially when it is different from what I have heard in other groups! The perspective here on misuse/overuse of motility drugs has caused me to adjust my thinking. But when I see posts like Dotty's mom hating to admit...

    Medications Discussed in Naboo's Thread

One important thing I forgot to mention is finding a veterinarian with whom you can really work in a "give and take" relationship. Respect is very important in building such a working relationship. Certainly, you can take him/her information from this forum, e-mail lists, the Internet, my books...

    Medications Discussed in Naboo's Thread

At the risk of being banned for speaking up, I need to start by saying I get very concerned when I read a statement like "Sulfatrim will cause severe diarrhea". This is a medication I havegivento many rabbits over the years and still find it to be a good broad-spectrum antibiotic for a variety...

    Naboo is very sick.

Ouch! Yes, I would bet that was the "root" of his problem. Actually, I'm always relieved when it's "just teeth" because I have three vets who I trust to handle dentals. One of my guys does get poopy butt just before needing his teeth done (he is the only one of many "teeth bunnies" to have...

RIP SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH SOOTY

I am so sorry. I went through this with a couple of my bunnies. The first I decided to try surgery and he died as soon as they put him under :( In the second case I had an ultrasound done and that confirmed that surgery was not a viable option -- there was a major blood supply going through...

    Micro Pooos

I had never heard of Strongid and am interested in what Randy and/or Pamhas to say about it. I will also check with Dr. Allan on it. Since she has a horse and this is primarily a horse dewormer she will probably be familiar with it. I can confirm thatit is Pyrantel Pamoate. I would not worry...

When Your Rabbit Needs Special Care

I'm watching the thread now and would be happy to answer any questions that aren't already answered by the time I see them. At this point, I think everything has been well answered by someone already. You guys will be appalled when you read this, but Smokey -- the bunny who inspired me to...

    Micro Pooos

Randy, What deworming protocol do you recommend? Very interested in your thoughts on this. Kathy Smith

    Pasteurella and Bordatella

Did I miss the results of the C&S? Kathy

    Pasteurella and Bordatella

What are the bunny's symptoms and how bothered iss/he by them? If s/he and companion are doing well clinically, I personally would be inclined to wait for the sensitivity results to come back rather than jumping in with one of the "big guns" without knowing it will be effective. Years ago I...

    Grasshopper

Oh, Morgan, no.... I am so very, very sorry. I was on my way to check out The Infirmary and Grasshopper jumped out at me.I wished so hard that I was not seeing this. Please know that you did everything possible for him and that he knew how very, very treasured he was. He had a lifetime of love...

    Molar Spurs (Pipp)

Thanks for the reminder about raccoons. I had forgotten that as one of my main concerns about grass here. Dr. Allan suggested growing wheat grass and I think that might be a better idea than picking outdoor grass... duh! Kathy

    Belle is having problems again.

It's so nice to not be the only one who can be kept "in" by bad weather! I hope it clears up quickly so you can get to the vet soon. Kathy

    Molar Spurs (Pipp)

Hi Maureen, I apologize for not answering this sooner. I just now had time to really read this thread and see that my opinion was asked for. Unfortunately ... I honestly don't have any more definite answers than anyone else on the microscopic poop question. Since the smallest adult rabbit...

    Belle is having problems again.

Hi All, I did have time today to check out the various veterinary texts I have regarding extraction of molars or "cheek teeth" in rabbits. All that had information on the subjectseemed to be in agreement that extraction was recommended only if teeth were already loose or infected and that...

    Skin irritation/odd shedding pattern

Yes, "plucking", like brushing,is really just a way of removing hair that is already loose. If it is is still attached, leave it that way (even if it looks like a "butt feather"). K

    Skin irritation/odd shedding pattern

Yup. I, too, have plucked several buns until they had balds spots. I have not had the problem with red spots, but none of my guys tolerate brushing ... and I agree that brushing could cause skin irritation. Kathy

    ivermectin vs. fenbendazole

I also agree that diagnosis,risk/benefit assessment, the choice of substance, and the dosing (amount and frequency) should be discussed with a vet. Kathy Smith

    Belle is having problems again.

Hi Maureen (and Everyone else), Sorry for the delay getting back to you on your question about molars. What I said about risk of breaking the jaw is based on what I have heard from my own vets and from what other people have been told by their vets. I do think that going very slowly/carefully...

    Teeth/eye problems (RESOLVED)

My knee-jerk reaction when I saw "amox" this morning was to panic... but when I looked up the specific drug and saw it was an injection I figured, then read the rest of the post and remembered what Randy had said earlier about Pen-G in the UK, I figured it was OK. Kathy
