    Color Please

BlueSkyAcresRabbitry wrote: They are the same genetically. There are many variations to the color. Some are more dark and some are more brassy looking. It all depends on the width of the bands.

    dead kits/eatting them

Sometimes this happens on a first litter. Rabbits in the wild will eat the dead young to keep predators from finding the nest. I would rebreed her since this was just her first litter. She probably will be fine next time. Sorry you lost the babies. Sharon

    Twilah's bred

Dutch bucks are unlike most breeds. They don't want to take time to get to know the doe. They would rather get right to business than get to know her better...LOL. Congrats. Hopefully she took. Dutch babies are unique in that you can see the markings the day they are born. From day one, I...

Breeders- Ever refused to sell to someone?

I agree with Roger except that I don't even have them come to the house. I meet them at a rabbit show that is closest to them. Since I don't advertise in newspapers, I generally only see potential buyers at shows. At the show yesterday in Long Island, I refused to sell to the "public". I only...

    Rabbits at stud?

I agree with BlueGiants but also, I will breed a rabbit for a friend. I do not do it for strangers or people that I do not know all that well. I will only do it if I know the person VERY well. Also, even though I know the person, I still check the doe for health issues and I never let them...

Mini Rex or other Dwarf Breeders- A Question

It if fine to breed two dwarfs, I just wouldn't breed a BUB to a small doe. With the "true" dwarf does, they can have problems passing babies if the babies are too big. When I breed them, I make sure I use the smallest buck I have. Sharon

Mini Rex or other Dwarf Breeders- A Question

How much dothe parentsweigh? Mini Rex for example: Amini rex that is normal weight carries a dwarfing gene (dominant) and a non-dwarfing gene (recessive). A mini rex that is larger than normal mini rex should be does not carry the dwarfing gene at all and carries 2 non-dwarfing genes...

Revverress wrote: This is not all true. The number in the class only changes if the DQed rabbit is the wrong color, wrongsex, or wrong breed, meaning that it didn't belong in that class in the first place. For example: A blue sr. doe that is entered as a blue sr. buck will get DQed and will...
