I know many people have bought willow balls from Pier One to give to their bunnies because they are untreated (ie no varnish).

I went intoPier One yesterday to pick some up, and mentionwhat they where for and the sales lady called up their information lineto double check that they are safe. The information line saidthat the balls are fumigate withPESTICIDES and SHOULD NOT begiven to animals.

Such a shame cause they look like so much fun. I guess I'mgoing to have to make my own out of the grape vines in my back yard.

Wow, that is really good to know.

**** that is such a shame. I guess I'l be tossing that thing away

definetly would like to find out about those grass mats too cause I was thinking I might get one of those too

They said the maize mats are completly organic and are safe to be around animals.

I wonder why they only fumigate the willow balls and not the grassmats? Not that I'm complaining, but it seems weird to do itto one and not the other.

PS: Just glad to help!:D

I was just thinking about you being fromCanada. There is a possibility that maybe the ones shippedacross the border have to be fumigated. I'll have to seeabout checking here in the states if they fumigate them as well.

I called their Customer Relations department andthey also said that the willow balls which are from China arefumigated. They told me that anything natural which isshipped overseas has to be fumigated and they imagine that the grassmats are actually fumigated as well.

Thank you SO MUCH for letting usknow! I'm glad to hear that the mats are ok...Maisie hasTHREE of them. :)

Whew...thank goodness I've never found the Pier One near me having thewillow balls in stock, I guess! EEK!!

Eek! Guess I'm not getting those anymore!

I don't suppose you asked about the grass mats, did you?

Still be careful with those grassmats. From what I was told it is highly likely that they arefumigated. Couldn't confirm cause I couldn't find the darnItem # for them.

In looking at their website, looks like theitem # is 2066739. Can you give me the number youcalled? Maybe I could just call it in...:)

Ahhh DRAGONGRASS mats! Found those andaccording to the info on them on Pier 1's website they are also fromChina so those would be fumigated as well :(

Argh...now I have to find another thing for her to sit and walk on when she's on her upper levels...that stinks!!

While I'm on the subject, anyone have any ideas??

(That stinks...and she SO enjoys nibbling on them, too...:()

there are grass mats available from Petsmart that should be safe. Though they are a lot more expensive per sq ft.

lot of people also seem to use cheap carpet.

well I'm not 100% certain as I wasn't able toask them about that specific product :p though it seems to meto be the most logical possibility since they told me that naturalproducts shipped from overseas are fumigated.

Ok, thanks...I think I'll just give them acall then to be sure. Sure would be nice to NOT have toreplace them!

The good thing is, though, she's had these mats about three weeks now,and has made hardly a dent in any of them with chewing! So,yeah, it'll be expensive to buy, but it'll be few and far between thatthey'll have to be replaced.

I'll let you guys know the results of my call. :)

Thanks for the post, guys!!
