I'm new to domestic rabbits and one thing struck me right away: Red and reddish-colored rabbits seem to be scarce, at least in our region. Why?

I grew up on a farm and I liked red chickens and red cattle the best. Now, we have a pumpkin-colored cat for the same reason. I'd love to get a Red Satin, Red New Zealand or even a Thrianta; however, here in the Pacific Northwest I find very few, if any breeders that have them.

Why?

Inquiring minds gotta know. :)

that is interesting cause i own a male NZ and around where i live there are ALOT of them it may be due to the rabbit meat trade? i am not sure though.
