Why do they always get sick on a holiday weekend - help?

Hi all,
It’s thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and our vet is closed til Tuesday. The 3 emergency animal clinics within a few hours drive don’t treat rabbits.

This morning I went downstairs to give our buns breakfast and our 2 year old female (not spayed) Lop x Rex didn’t charge for food, which never happens. I picked her up and notice this spot on the floor, I’m unsure if it’s blood mixed with something, urine or other fluid. It doesn’t have any scent as far as I can tell. I have syringe fed her critical care -just a small amount and give her .15mg of Meloxicam. Her stomach feels normal and she is slightly dehydrated.
She is on a diet of Sherwood pellets (1tbs/day) fed at night, Timothy hay all day, and fresh veggies for breakfast (this week has been carrot tops, mint, cilantro and romaine)

The only thing I could think of was that the fluid came from her sore-hocks but she’s on playmats, carpet on top and fleece on top of that and her sore-hocks while missing fur patches do not have any open wounds. Her teeth appear fine and there is no discharge from her nose or mouth.

She is litter trained and has never peed on her carpet.

Any other ideas what this could be?

That looks like pee to me. Could someone have fed your rabbits some carrots?

The color is within the normal range for pee, but it's an awfully small spot to be pee. It's possible that it's some sort of ******l discharge, which unfortunately would most likely be indicative of uterine cancer. At this point, all you can really do is provide palliative care and try to get her through the long weekend until a rabbit-savvy vet can start diagnosing her .

How much does she weigh, and did you actually give .15 mg of meloxicam or was the decimal in the wrong place? The safe dosage is 0.3-0.6 mg/kg (up to 1.5 mg/kg if needed in case of severe pain only) so you may be under-dosing her on pain meds. Make sure to get something in her stomach when giving the meloxicam, as NSAIDS can irritate the stomach lining if it's empty. Syringe-feed water or unflavored pedialyte (unflavored b/c it has no artificial sweetener) along with the critical care. Here's a site that has dosage info for critical care (ie how much to feed per day based on the rabbit's weight) to help you know how much to feed her. If you have access to small animal probiotics like Benebac or Probios, that never hurts when dealing with GI stasis (or antibiotics for that matter). Also, she may appreciate some sort of heating pad (in a pinch, a sock filled with uncooked rice and microwaved works as a rabbit-safe heating pad - just make sure you can comfortably rest it on your inner arm for a bit so that it's not too hot for the rabbit).

Is she eating anything at all? Pooping? I assume she's not drinking much (if any) if she's dehydrated? What is her activity level like? Is she lethargic? Is she hunched up like she's in pain or is she relaxed as though she feels mostly ok?
