Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to ask a quick question about my Bandit. He's my Mini French Lop. Pretty much ever since I got him (Oct/06)when he is laying in his cage when he's breathing, it makes like a whistle sound. He seems healthy to me, no discharge from the eyes or nose or anything. Eats normal, nothing new in his diet.

I dont know how concerned I should be?!

Anyone??

Thanks!

Crystal (Bandit & Holly)

Well I can hear it from quite a distance lol

Not too far, this computer room/bunny room is small, but he's a good 2ft or so away from me. And its not ALL the time.

Wow, mine are also about 2-3 ft away from me,but w/ tv noise. I could never hear anything, except when BunBun was ill, but then, I always keptnoise level low, so I could hear noises from him.

His tummy started gurgling so loud, that I could hear it across the room w/ tv .

Keep an ear on it, maybe he's just nasily?:ponder:

Alright well I will definately keep an eye on him. Cuz he has always done this since I've got him. So it's nothing new. And he shakes a lot when he breathes. REALLY hard to explain. ???

How long have you had him?

If you've had him a while (a few months at least), and he does this whistling noise all the time, then it's probably just the way his nasal cavity is shaped. Just like some people are more prone to snore then others.

If it comes and goes, and you haven't had him but a few weeks- it could be some sort of upper respiratory infection. I just lost a momma rabbit to a URI within 2.5 days and she didn't have a runny nose at all! She did sound like a pig she was so congested, though. Not to scare you-but it's a possibility you might want to keep in mind. Sounds like his isn't severe whatever it is.

Oops, I just read you've had him since Oct '06.

It's probably nothing then, just the way his nose is shaped on the inside. :D

One of my bunnies Boo makes a high pitched whistley squeek when she is sleeping i can hear her over the telly if its not up loud. Saffy almost talks when she cleans herself. and Dennis has a respiritory thing and when he runs around he reminds me of a train he is just very vocal when he is happy and the respiritory thing makes him louder.

I think in a long winded way i'm trying to say if he's always done it i wouldn't worry about it.

I've got two noisy bunnies.

Wildfire makes a wide variety of noises. From a really good chick impersonation and gruntingto sqeaking and humming.

Baxter snores...really, really loudly. He flops out on his side (ears flung every which way) and he snores. I can hear it over the TV, even at a moderated volume. He also makes noises when he grooms and when he's getting a really good nose rub.

Oh well it's good to hear that my boy isn't the only nasally guy. Guess that's just him, because he's always done it since I've had him. Thanks guys!!
