When to know its time // Cancer journey (RIP)

It's been a while since I was last on here but I'm in need of some advice and/or support. This past week my holland lop Dean was diagnosed with (the vet thinks liver) cancer and we have been told there are zero treatment options. The vet has told me he is no pain and he is showing no signs of being in pain but he's getting weaker and I'm conflicted on when to know its time to let him go. He is eating/drinking/toileting normally and is just clumsier and more tired than he normally is. He can no longer right himself if he trips and will just lay there waiting for me to help him. He is still alert and active, still runs up to me when he sees me etc.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

At the end of the day I would much rather let him go too early than too late to avoid unnecessary suffering.

I had an old bun that lost use of her hind legs due to spinal degeneration. She eventually could only scoot in a 2 ft square space, but she still got excited to eat and have treats, and she loved snuggling with her bun friend. I figured as long as she was still happy with things in her life, was coping fine with her disability, and wasn't in pain, that I would just let her enjoy the remaining part of her life.

So I guess it just depends on how much your bun still seems to enjoy normal bunny things like food and affection, and if he is coping fine with his increasing decline in health. But also you have to consider if you have the extra time to dedicate to helping him and being with him. I did have to dedicate a lot more time caring for my old bun, but fortunately it worked out for me to be able to do that.

Thank you for responding! Unfortunately yesterday morning he refused his breakfast and for me that was the biggest sign it was time to let him go. I had him euthanised yesterday, just one week after we got the cancer diagnosis
