Bunny's story is interesting...
A little girl at my daughter's school had two rabbits that'd had their second or third litter 28 December, and had brought them to school for people to purchase and take home (the money was going to spaying the mama). Well, I went over just to say hello to the bunnies, but had never really seriously thought about having a bunny friend because every one of the bunnies I'd ever looked at in pet stores had either been hiding or completely disinterested in me. As I really like pet friends that enjoy my company and love spending time with me, this disinterest turned me off to wanting a rabbit.
So, I walked over, fully expecting to be met with the same disinterest or fear, and thought it would at least be nice to see the furry bunnies.
When I walked over, I saw a completely different picture than I expected! The bunnies were hopping around, having a good time, and curious about the world around them! Turns out they were second or third generation bunnies that were held from about two weeks from birth (basically as soon as it was safe to do so), and were therefore incredibly interested and in fact craved human contact and to be held. The moment I walked up, in fact, a little gray cutie hopped right up to me in interest, sniffed my hand, and proceeded to try to climb into my lap!! Well, that was it for me! I was caught!!
Only one thing held me back...I have two cats, and thought (especially because our male, Hobbes, is about 15lbs), they would make a meal of this adorable little furry creature. So, I made friends, held her (which she adored...she snuggled right up under my chin and nuzzled me), and decided to go home and research it before attacking my poor husband on the idea (who had to practically be BRIBED for him to agree to the cats). I went home, read up, found out cats and rabbits are actually amazingly compatible, convinced hubby, and we went back a couple days later (when they brought the bunnies again) and took that little gray cutie home with me!
Needless to say, I am now not only the kitty-lover I've been for fifteen years running, but I've now entered the land of bunny-loving, too! Bunny is so wonderful...she's incredibly social, got a great sense of humor, and was a cinch to litter train! I never dreamed in all my longing looks at bunnies in the pet stores, I would actually find one like Bunny, that loved and craved time with me so much! She's made a great addition to our family, and my husband has even admitted to enjoying her company as well! GOAL!!
So...I've told you my story...now it's time you tell me yours!!
