What would you say if you were using goats milk?Approximately 12 hours apart. Doesn't need to be exact. Just sometime in the morning and sometime in the evening. Though this also depends on the formula you are using.
You can only get away with twice a day feeding if you are using a formula that is rich enough in fat, protein, and nutrients(like the mother rabbits milk would be) to keep the babies bellies full that long. If you use a lean formula with not enough fat, protein, and nutrients, the babies bellies won't stay full long enough and they will start getting restless before 12 hours are up.
Yeah I been feeding it to the baby bun since it was about a week old. I ended up with a bunny that was way to young about a week old. The person didn't wanna take care of itIs this something you just started or have you been feeding since they were born?
I have been feeding it 3 times a day? Should I just keep feeding him 3 times and yeah I put Timothy hay and baby bunny pellets in the cage for him to eat and he eats it no problem and poops a lot lolI would just keep feeding it the way you have been, provided it's doing well and eating solid food now without any problems. It's old enough now that it's going to be eating more and more solid food to help supplement it's nutrition and growth. What solid foods do you feed it(type of hay, pellets, veggies, etc), and is it having any problems with eating any of it?
Okay thank you! Would I do that 2 feedings a day about 12 hours apart? The milk is mostly supplemental at this point, if he's eating plenty of solid food no problem(and always has access to free fed timothy or other grass hay), and his poops are looking good. If he is eating solid food well and poops are good, I would maybe cut back to 2 milk feedings. This will also help prepare for eventual weaning in a few weeks time.
Thank you so much!Yeah. Doesn't have to be exact though. You're just supplementing the solid food eating with some milk at this point. The milk is less of an essential component at this stage of hand feeding, and is more of a comfort/treat time than for nutrition.
We used kitten milk also till he got biggerRight or wrong, we have fed our baby bunnies Kitten Milk Replacer (with a bit of heavy cream added) three times a day. It seemed to work. When the babes got bigger and more robust we cut that back to twice daily until we weaned them.
I have another question, how old can the baby rabbits be before you can give then like wood to chew on? Or is 4 weeks old enough for them to start chewing on wood piecesYeah. Doesn't have to be exact though. You're just supplementing the solid food eating with some milk at this point.
