my kids are 14 and 16 so will be doing there own thing as usual. i do decorate the porch, and with the help of my hell hounds (aka brandy and whiskey chocolate lab) hand out sweets to any village kid who doesnt run away - normally the dogs are stopped from barking when the bell goes but not on halloween.

a couple of years ago i didnt do anything and had parents asking why i wasnt dressing up as usual.

will be hoping my black dress still fits this year:p i've already untangled the garland of skeletons.

I guess Halloween is getting more and more popular here in the UK as we (as usual) try to follow the USA.

What sort of things do you peeps do?
Actually Halloween started with the Celts in Britain, Ireland etc. :)
The Europeans brought it to the US and there it did change alot, alot of the old traditions are the same though :)

I wanted to go to a house party but my parents said no :(
So lucky me, I get to go to my Grandparent's house and play Halloween games! :grumpy:

Me too!

I think Halloween was the best part of apartment living, kids weren't supposed to go door to door. This year, I will have to hide in my house.I hope the neighborhood kids understand that a porch light that is off means "no candy here."

There are some that don't understand the "porch light off" thing. I find them usually to be teenagers that are out without their parents.

We usually don't do anything for Halloween, but this year as it's on a Saturday my friend is having a fancy dress party. The rule is you have to go as something actually scary, you can't go as something funny, or a character etc (although characters from scary movies are ok). I'm all set to go as a fallen angel, with a black skirt, black top, tights, black nails and dark makeup etc, and black fairy wings and a halo.

Except I'm really sick with sinusitis and I don't know if I'll be well enough to go :(

I remember last year, it was the same day that Chalk had her operation, and I was really scared that she wouldn't pull through, so I stayed up all night with her. The forum was absolutely DEAD lol. I think there was pretty much only me and JimD online!

The rule of thumd has always been. Light off no candy at least in my neighborhood.

I am taking all the neices tricker treating then me and my sister are leaving the kids with uncle and daddy and going to a haunted house.

lol - i put up a sign that says ' hell hounds live here' it's the look on the faces when i open the door and they realize the barking is for real;)

it helps been in a small village tho' as we all know that those who wish to take part make it obvious by putting out a pumpkin or some other decoration.

We'll sit in the driveway and pass out candy. There are a bunch of us that just sit outside.

The German Shepherds scare the living daylights out of adults, let alone kids, so that's one reason we'll be outside.

We'll probably take the Chinese Cresteds with us as they have their own costumes. Leo is going to be a lion (perfect, huh?), PoGo will be a ghost, and Moxie will be a devil/angel (her's is SO cute as it has pink frilly fur on it with wings and has a little head piece with pink devil horns!!!).

And before anyone says that's cruel to dress dogs up, they are hairless dogs....they LOVE clothes!! lol

We'll be taking the youngest human trick-or-treating for the first time. Last year he got really excited about it, but then on Halloween decided he didn't want to wear the costume he had begged me to make/promised to wear. :p This year, he's been participating in the costume making process & picked out Mama & Daddy's costumes (we are all nocturnal black animals!) and seems really excited. We'll probably take him to a daytime trick-or-treat deal in a business area of town, with the possibility of going for a short trip after dark.

Then, possibly we'll drop him off at the in-laws for an overnight while we go to a costume party. Otherwise, early to bed for the munchkin & we'll watch some type of horror flick. I'm hoping the in-laws pull through, though! I've never not gone out for Halloween and I'd rather not start staying in now. :D

Usually we have four parts to Halloween. One is Beggar's Bash, which happens actually like 2 weeks before Halloween, at the local park. You walk along the walking trail there and there are vendors set up and they hand out candy. Then there is Trunk or Treat with my dad's work. Then actual Trick or Treating with the boy. Then an adult party.

This year, we didn't do Beggar's Bash, and we didn't do Trunk or Treat since my dad is retired now. That's sad, because it was really fun last year. Thankfully, Trick or Treating in my sister's neighborhood is Friday. So I'll take the kid up there, do Trick or Treating with them, leave him up there with my brother in law, and then me and my sister will head back down to our house and finish getting ready for the adult Halloween party on Saturday night.

We plan on handing out candy, but we live in a really inconvienent place. We're at the end of what people consider a "rich" street, so people always go at that street, and our house is on the end... So naturally they all come here, too. I really don't want to be handing out candy and trying to get thing ready for the party and all that. But I suggested NOT handing out candy and the wife flipped. She loves that stuff. So we'll be stuck doing that.

We haven't even carved pumpkins yet... YIKES.

glad im not the only one! daughter is doing that tomoro. it's been so mild here that i've put off doing it. didnt want it to go all mushy before saturday:)

I live in a rural area and at most we get about five trick or treaters. Since we are going to my Grandparents the younguns are going trick or treating there because there are more houses and we are leaving the sweets in a bowl in the porch with a ''help yourself'' sign. If one kid takes everything oh well. :D

Oh and we haven't carved our pumpkin either, if we do it will be all mushy for Halloween! We used to live in a really rough area five years ago and our pumpkins always used to get stolen so we could never have any!

I've been too lazy to do a pumpkin this year. I'm not too big on decorating or anything, but I love to eat the roasted pumpkin seeds! Probably won't this year.

I usually decorate my place and dress up my pets. I don't get alot of kids so I buy candy that I like and start to dig into it a week before so right now there isn't much left, hehe.

I've gone to a few parties that was fun dressing up.

We realllllllllly need to get on the pumpkin thing. Last year we had like 5-6... It was cool. My wife's mom has done a LOT this year. I should borrow some of hers! LOL.

I like to roast the seeds, too. I might actually have to get this all done Saturday! No time tomorrow!

Aww..we don't do halloween over here...i mean you get the occasional kids trick or treating and people have halloween dress up parties...but we are just not a halloween-y lolcountry..

my family is raosting hot dogs and marshmellows... watching movies, hot cocoa... we also bought them candy since we no longer trick or treat(i make goody baskets for some elderly neighbors and kids that don't get to do things
