I just adopted this little guy a couple days ago, and I’m curious about his coloring. Is he a broken tort?

I would call him a broken black torted otter (broken fox for short)! He does look similar to a tort, but the minor ticking on his ears etc makes me think fox. Not sure if he's pedigreed or if you know his parents colors, but if there are otters in his pedigree that would strengthen my opinion! Adorable bunny!

I'd call him a broken orange
Could also be a broken torted otter, but orange is more common in the breed and its pretty common to some lines of orange to have heaving ticking that makes it look almost shaded

I think StableSteel is right. After looking closer at his nose, I noticed the shading goes from light to dark like an orange. If it went dark to light, it would look more like a fox.
Time will also keep telling! When I first got one of my does, she had barely any shading. I assumed she was a broken orange, but as her coat grew out she developed more shading, and now I'm sure she's a broken tort! Summer picture is when I first got her at 8 weeks, fall picture is her at about 5 months(she is darker in real life).

Thank you! He’s almost a year and a half old now, so I don’t know if his coat will change much more, but he is shedding quite a bit so I’m curious to see what it’s like once that’s done.
