what breed is my bunny?

hello! i just got my bunny ozzy in august and the people i got him from don’t know what breed he is. he is 4 months old and weighs 3 pounds 2.2 ounces. they showed me his dad and he was around the same size as him but a little bigger. i’ve been doing research everyday since i got him trying to figure out what breed he could be and the only one i could find that look like him is a polish rabbit but i think he’s mixed with something else because from what i looked up polish rabbits weigh 2.5-3 pounds and i’m sure he would weigh around 4-5 pounds bc he’s only 4 months old. anything would help thank you.

He may have hotot in him somewhere with the markings around his eyes. I had a dwarf hotot mix bunny with a strip on his back and many spots in different places though he favored more of the dwarf aspect. Yours may favor whatever bigger breed he was mixed with, though I could be completely wrong. If you look up dwarf hotot mix some of them look closer to yours.

your rabbit is a generic mix. Rabbits arent like dogs where its easier to see breeds.

100% that is not an english spot.
Again just because the rabbit is a broken colour pattern does not mean it is that breed.
English spots are a arched breed and rare to be seen as pets.

Guys english spots look nothing like that (and neither do hotots). Thats like calling a black pomeranian a lab because its black just like a black lab. All black and white dogs are not border collies.

Different rabbit breeds have the same colours. A broken colour pattern rabbit is simply just that. You will find that colour pattern in dozens of breeds and mixes. Its just a colour. Not indicative of a specific breed.

Spreading misinformation does not help the rabbit world or the breeds our dedicated breeders work so hard to preserve.

I understand your point but I do have to say you are coming off as “highly offensive” especially when you say we’re “spreading misinformation.”

The original poster knows that their rabbit is a “mixed breed.”

My “dwarf hotot mix” was originally a “meat rabbit” so his breed can’t be verified.

We all realize that rabbit breeds aren’t like dog breeds but the poster just wants a few guesses at what their rabbit “might be mixed with.” I don’t see the harm in taking a few guesses, especially when the original poster “knows” they are guesses because “we as repliers” mentioned it.

The entire point of the forum is as a resource for information. And if people are going to spread false information on it, all it does is ruin it for the readers. This is why we keep having people assuming all rabbits with eyerings have hotot in them and all spotted rabbits are english spots.
So false information will be corrected or removed.

So going around saying your rabbit is a hotot mix is also spreading false information contributing to the problem.
Just accept that they are total mixes and be happy with that. You shouldnt be breeding them anyway so knowing even a partial breed does not matter.
Most pet quality rabbits are so mixed and over bred you have zero hope of figuring it out.
