You know, a lot of people use barn hay (grassbarn hay) and others buy the stuff from WalMart or Petsmart, etc. I think they are all fine if you read the labels and theinformation is what it should be.

With that, I will add that I have tried all of the above and due to myrabbit having allergies to dust, I had to change to Oxbow. There are larger, cleaner stems and way less dust and little piecesthan most "store" brands. Barn hay is fine if you know whatyou are getting. It's also going to have dust and otherirritants (like horse hair or cat dander) from things in the barn itcomes from. It was worse on Bo than the bagged hay.

Oxbow's hays are grown just for small animals and they seem to have a more controlled area for storage, etc.

It costs a little more, but in the long run I feel there is less waste and it's better for Bo.

I switch between the Kaytee brand of hay and theOxbow brand. I like Oxbow's Alfalfa nibblers, the alfalfa has a lotmore of the stuff they like to eat than the kaytee brand does. When itcomes to timothy hay I haven't really been able to discern a differencebetween the two brands so I usually buy the Kaytee at the feed storebecause it is $3.99 where PetCo charges a whopping $6.99 for the sameexact thing!

You feed alfalfa cause 2 of your 3 are young?

I wish you were closer, I have 2 bags of alfalfa (oxbow) and bunnybrome (oxbow) that bow can't or won't eat. The alfalfa makeshim sneeze cause it's dustier than timothy. *sigh*

We use a brand of Timothy hay called Benko. It'sactually the only hay they'll eat. I get it at a small pet store (theydon't sell animals, only pet supplies) called Pet Valu.

It does have some of the big pieces that Bo mentioned...but it's shareof the dusty stuff too. I have bad allergies, so I keep it in the bagit's packaged in, inside another plastic bag, in the closet. We alsohave an airtight plastic container that we keep hay in by their cagefor easy access.

You know, a lot of times i forget thereare people from other countries who need thisinfo.:?I need to watch closely for where the postis from!

I am allergic to dust (bo took after his mommy lol) and grass .... sowe have to store it similarly. Now if the little booger wouldkeep his hay in his cage and not all over my floor...... :X
