Hi all!

My beloved lop, Molly seems to be prone to the above - symptoms aresmelly wee and continually wet bottom, resulting in urine scald. My vetmanages to clear it up using anti biotics. However, it has justreturned for a third time in 10 months.

Any idea what we're doing wrong??

Lowering the calcium in her diet may help.

I have a lop who also is prone to UTIs. I had to stop givingher certain veggies like collard and mustard greens, spinach, and evenparlsey, which are high in calcium.

There are some articles here in the "stickied" sections that listveggies and their nutritional content, so you can pick and choose thosethat would be better for Molly.

Poor little girl! Give her a nose rub for me!

I'm going to throw out a couple possibilities that your vet may have already checked out:

Bladder or kidney sludge/stones problems?
Kidney problems? (tested with a blood test)
E. cuniculi? (also a blood test, but less likely to have been checked)
Diet problems?

What is her diet like? Is she eating lots of high calciumveggies/pellets? Does she drink much water? Manyrabbits will drink more from a bowl than a bottle, and that may help.

If you're looking for more info, there's a collection of article links and threads in the Rabbit Health References section here:

:yeahthat

Pipp, who's not much of a drinker, was spending too much timein the litter box with too few results, and her pee was too white andchalky, for my liking. The vet forgot to take anxray of her bladderat the same time as her teeth, so I stilldon't know what the problem was, but I cut her pellets down to a verysmall handful, andgave her a ton of the lower-calcium watersoaked veggies (as Laura noted, avoiding the collards, etc), andwhatever it was cleared right up. And boy didthatbunny start to pee! I've gone from cleaning her box weekly todaily.
