:bunnydance:Hi everyoone, My newly adopted female (spayed)-Tinkerbell- is having some unusual urine output. This happens only about once per day, the rest of the times her urine is normal.Anyway, the unusual urine looks like curdled milk.:shock:sort of..... the color is normal and there is no particular different scent to it.

I've only had her about a month............................

Hope it's nothing to worry about!!!

Thumps to all you bunny slaves in advance.

If it's that thick, it sounds like bladder sludge. I'd recommend taking her to the vet to have it checked out. Till the appointment, try to encourage her to drink more water. If she has a water bottle, give her a bowl also as many bunnies drink more water from bowls than bottles. You can also flavor her water with a little vanilla or unsweetened juice such as apple or carrot juice.

Let us know how it goes!

Thumps to you for the quick reply.

My only additional question would be, why (out of all the times she urinates) does this only happen once per day.

I have pedialyte (sp) would that also be helpful to get her to drink more.

thumps again to you:bunnydance:

This doesn't sound unusual as rabbits excrete large amounts of calcium in their urine. Unless the rabbit is straining in the litter box or drinking excessively, I would not be overly concerned.

:bunnydance:Thumps to you - for your reply.

I am a Pennsylvanian myself (transplanted to NY for the moment).

I live near State College (PennState). I've looked for a rabbit savvy vet in that area, just in case I need one. My bun - Tinkerbell - (and my former BUN Beanie - may he play in peace at the Rainbow Bridge 'ti lI get there) always travel with me.

Any ideas for the vet?

I LOVE the State College area! The Penn State campus area is so beautiful :)

(I moved to PA from Ohio 5 years ago).

In my opinion, a vet visit isn't necessary at this point. It is normal for rabbits to excrete excess calcium in their urine. The timing is related to their eating schedule, foods they eat and their individual metabolism.

Yes, I've seen it rather thick and it may have the appearance of curdled milk.

If the rabbit is drinking excessively and straining to urinate, then there is cause for concern.

In this case, it just appears to me to be the normaldischarge of calcium.
