yesterday i picked up my rabbit and it seemed like he had maybe mucus in his throat? it sounded like something was in there, labored breathing, somtimes breathing fast, and sometimes you cant hear it. but today i picked him up and the same was happening, and his ears were ice cold. they have really warmed up for some reason while ive been holding him. he is sitting on my lap between my arm and my body, not somewhere he usually hangs out on me. he seems still energetic i think, just not as much. i dont think its an emergency, could he have a cold? i know he cant catch a human cold but is there a bunny cold? im not sure wheather he needs a vet or not. any ideas to what this is or wheather he needs a vet? thanks if you can help

You need to get him to a vet ASAP. The ears getting cold is bad and he needs medications to deal with whatever he has.

I would not make an appt. where you have to wait - I'd get him in today...as an emergency.

well i had an appointment to bring him to the vet that day but ended up cancelling saying he was doing better and would call tommorow if i needed to. hes been doing fine since that afternoon. the only strange behavior i can notice is that when i hold him, he puts his head between my arm and body on my lap. its kind of strange but his ears are fine and i cant hear the breathing problems.his ears do just get cold occasionally, when i pick him up i notice it.but they usually get warmer. in this instance they were ice cold and not getting warmer, but they are fine and he seems fine. im keeping a close eye on him, knowing that he may not show signs of being sick.otherwise thank you for the help tiny smom, i really didnt realize it was that bad until you posted, and it will help me now and in the future. thanks

Cold ears on their own isn't always a problem,it's just when there's other problems combined --cold and shocky, lethargic, laboured breathing...

Best to take his temperature, something the vet can show you how to do.

Glad to hear he's better!
