Im trying to get my bunny to come to me and she only does like half the time i dont use treats cuz i dont want to upset her stomach and i also want to train her to stay still to practice her position for the bunny shows can anyone help me or give me names of treats that wont hurt her and she is an English Lop

I give Phoenix Oxbow's Simple Rewards Veggie Treats. I just give them to her in tiny pieces and I find that with training it is easier to train over a longer period of time than a shorter one. I tried to teach her to come to me when I call her but it did not work, now that we have bonded more, it is finally working :)

Good luck!

Rabbits won't do anything to please their owners like dogs will. You have to motivate them and food is a good way. You can also you a clicker to help associate the command with the click but you still have to reward with food to get them " trained".

Half the time's not bad - as someone once said, the first time you give a command to a rabbit she looks at you like you're crazy. The second time she washes her face. The third time she obeys.

Natasha will come when I call her name, I just have to do it a few times. On the other hand, I only have to say "carrot" once...

It's a good idea to limit sweet treats like craisins or banana chips, but bunnies are pretty broadminded as to what constitutes a treat. Try giving a sprig of parsley or cilantro as a treat - they're good green vegetables, but if the bunny thinks they're a treat they won't know or care that the greens are good for them.

Sometimes, you find a word that works best. Q-tip's favorite food is oats. We're working on responding to "c'mere bunny!!" but, every single time, regardless of where she is or what she's doing, she'll come flying if you call "Oatmeal!!!"

Some of ours just love attention so there's no bribery involved. Some we have to call a few times and again no bribery. A couple act we are lucky to be their slaves and will come sometimes. Don't like to use treats but they usually respond to attention and affection.

I'm working on making my pair less skittish and I've been using their regular ration of pellets to train them. I give the about 1/3 of their pellets in the bowl at breakfast time (and at first I just sat their bowl of pellets next to me on the floor while I read or did other work) and the rest of their pellets they eat from my hand throughout the day. If your rabbit is young enough that you're still feeding unlimited pellets, they may not be a valuable enough treat yet, but for an adult rabbit, I've found they're plenty motivational.
