I've already posted her here, but can't find the old thread.

She is still up for adoption, and I am thinking about getting her. I am about to call the place, but am nervous about adopting her. I can't drive nearly 3 hours to get her, so I'm going to ask if they can meet me halfway.

*Sigh*

So confused!! But I think about her all the time... and I look at rabbits for adoption everyday here in Baton Rouge, but one has never touched me like she has, and I don't know why. It's strange.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy?

Okay, I called the girl Heather who is fostering her, no one picked up, but I left a message. It's her cell phone, so hopefully she will call me back tonight or tomorrow. God... the more that I look at her, the more I want her! And she doesn't think look like anything special (like a holland lop or lionhead, ect.), but something about her makes me want to adopt her.

Does that seem crazy?

I say go for it. Devon and Amber were at a shelter almost 3 hours away, so at first we weren't so sure. And there were so many wonderful rabbits near home, but something kept telling me that they were meant to come live with us. We made that three hour trip, and things couldn't have been better! Follow your gut instinct:).

My concern is, Harper doesn't ride well in a car, AND live in south Louisiana. The heat is brutal. I took him on a 10 minute trip the other day, and he got very overheated. 3 hours is impossible for him. Even an hour and a half. I would probably just not be able to take him at all to meet her. I know this is an impossibly generalized question, but what are the odds and an older fixed male and an older fixed female not getting along? Harper hasn't been with other rabbits since he was a baby. And I'm not sure about the girl bunny, I'll ask when they call back. So, I have my concerns with that issue as well. :?

I wouldn't transport him that far in the heat, you're right there.

The chances are pretty good that they're going to bond, eventually, I'd think.

Hope it works out! (I LOVE looking at Harper's avatar!)

Well the foster mom want Harper to come? If she has any sense, she would know that bringing a rabbit in that kind of heat is not good. I'm sure they would get along fine :).

What a doll! She's so adorable! :)

Yeah, I love Harper in the avatar.. it seems like he's saying a big warm how are you? :D

Spring, I would think that she wouldn't want Harper to come, knowing the heat. (Either way, he isn't coming. I'm not jeopardizing my baby's health)

I tried to call her (the foster mom)cell phone back, but no answer. I'll try again in the morning. I left a message, but I'm a little impatient, LOL! Actually, I'm just excited, and with my luck, someone will adopt her before me. Why? Because *I* want to adopt her. That's usually how it goes for me, LOL. She's been sitting there for 3 years, but the second I want her, boom. Sowill someone else.

Anyways, if I do decide to get her (if she is even still available. The ad may be old...), I am going to ask about making arrangements to meet me halfway. Maybe somewhere near Sorrento or Gonzales, LA. Both are a little over an hour from me, which will be close to halfway. If she is unable to do it, I've talked to my dad about making the long journey with me down there toLuling, LA(no way am I driving that far alone. Not in this state!).

Hopefully, she'll be my (and Harper's) new companion very soon. Keeping fingers crossed!

If it's that hot, I would be very concerned about transporting the new rabbit back to your house. Is Holly being kept in an airconditioned home?

I don't think it would do any good to take Harper. Rabbits often won't fight in neutral territory, but will act differently on their own turf. The stress of a new rabbit in the home during this heat is also a concern.

Well, we have central air conditioning in our home, this place stays very cool (sometimes cold). Especially my bedroom, where Harper is housed. The new rabbit has been fostered by this one girl for two years at her home, what the AC situation is like there, I don't know.

As far as the heat goes with transporting the new rabbit, I will be using my dad's work truck, which has an AC that will put frost on you. So that will keep the new rabbit plenty cool. I just don't want to take Harper out with the heat. He doesn't ride well in a car after about 20 minutes, he gets figity. And I do not like to cage him in carriers unless I absolutely have to. So he definitely won't be coming along for the ride.

I can also bring some frozen water bottles and ice packs for the new bunny, to help keep her cool. If I get her, of course. Still waiting on a call. I'll call later around noon if I don't get a call back. :?

Well, I'm getting a little irritated.I have called the girl who has her (its her cell phone), and since yesterday evening, after it rings and rings, I'll get her voice mail saying she is unavailable. Then after a while, I'll get a voice mailmessage saying she is on the other line.ARGH!!!!!Holly hasbeen bumped up to the first page on petfinder, I don't want her to be adopted out before I even get ahold of this girl.

:angryrant<---- me right now.

Yeah, and I sent an e-mail. However, I'm not sure how often she even checks her e-mail. I figured her cell phone would be the fastest and easiest way to get ahold of her. :sigh

Sheesh! No wonder the buns been in foster care for 2 years! She won't even answer her darn phone. I really hope you get her :(.

Heard from her yet?

Nope.(

I called her again just now... same recording message. But if I call her in an hour, I'll probably get a message saying she is on the other line. Though she never calls back when I leave a message. Starting to feel a little blown off here. :X

And I really want her!! I have already absolutely, positively made up my mind that I want her. But I have to get ahold of this girl first, UGH!

Hmm. That would be pretty annoying!! I hope you hear back from her soon :(.

**Also, I thought of an idea. Maybe phone the shelter and tell them the trouble you've been going through to contact her? Maybe they could contact her? i'm not sure

Nope, no other number to try. :(

I called the shelter, but they are closed today. No response to the e-mail yet...

I'm going to try and call her phone again real quick...
