I just got a letter in the mail from my Auto Insurance Company stating that I have to either sign and return this waiver that either add or disclaims my 14 year old son from being on my insurance policy. It also included a questionairre about said 14 year old.

They also put on there, in boldfaced type, that it is REQUIRED to sign this letter and return it, one way or another.

So I have to sign it, and add him, which will push my insurance for 3 trucks up from $208 to $462... or not add him and it stays the same.

Simple enough choice.. he is 14, and he can't even drive a Dixie Chopper correctly and get the yard done..much less drive a Hemi.

But he is freakin 14.. and furthermore.. I have never filled out anything about my kids when I got insurance, so how do they know my kid is 14..

I called my husband at work, and at first I was amused because as I said, Blake can't drive a riding lawnmower correctly, much less a truck. Ricky however, was skeeved.. his reaction was less than.. cordial.

So is it an invasion of privacy like he says?

I am waiting for the insurance wilderbeast to call me back.. how dare her.. taking a lunch when I have questions!

Wow, that's really odd they contacted you. Technically they don't have to be covered like this until they have gotten their license..... kids learning are supposed to fall under their parent's policy since they are supervised...

I think I might check around for a new company...... I'd like to know who the current one is - I'm not real fond of a couple out there LOL!

Southern County Mutual, The Republic Group..

But she is checking into getting me some Progressive Insurance.. so the policy will apply to my son like you mentioned Bo.

I got the same letter when my first daughter was 15. Had to sign that she wasn't driving any of our cars/trucks, had to fill out a questionaire about her school, grades and activities... I didn't even know that they knew I had a teenage daughter. But they did. My Insurance agent said that if it wasn't singed, I ran a pretty good chance of being dropped (And insurance is already WAY to expensive and hard to get around here!) I'm expecting another letter any day now, my other daughter is now 15...

Zin, just for comparison, my older daughter is now 19 and driving... to insure 3 drivers for 3 cars and my dually truck (as an "occasional vehicle") is $4200/year. That's with a high deductable, safe driver discounts, multi policy discounts and everything else I can find! (And they haven't adjusted our rates yet for my daughters first accident!:pullhair: )
