Our vet is really great with rabbits. I put their carrier right on the exam table so I don't have to lift them up and risk a freak out; the vet lays down towels on the table to prevent slippage. I stand on one side and he stands on the other so bunny won't jump off, and also so I can comfort said bunny while the vet is doing the exam. And I always bring treats to help the rabbits relax a little.

I thought Nadia (Honeypot) gave you some info on rabbit vets in your area? I would go to her vet if you can. Its always best to use someone you know is good with bunnies if you can.

The phone is working!! finally. Good news is that my mom's gonna call the vet. (The one honeypot sujested) But we can only go wednesday or thursday. My dad is going on a business trip on friday-suday. My mom doesnt drive. Ill have to tell the vet that BunBuns has mucous in her poop and that she sleeps A LOT. Like during breakfest she would always be up, but she was sleeping. Lunch she would run around... Now after a couple of Binkies she rolls over and sits for like 5-7 minutes. At night when shes supposed to be active, she sleeps.Im realllllly worried. Is it ok if i call today? Myself (im 14) can i?Or should i wait until my mom calls.... after 5:00 P.m

Ill be on the computer till 8:15 ish. So please post your comments and sujestions.
Im very worried. Shes grooming herself right now. Shes eating, drinking, and playing well. But her poops are abnormal. They are sometimes small, big!, a little wet, and really smelling (likes ceceals) I won't be home until 3! Im going to come home at lunch and check-up on her (11:40)

So is it ok for a 14 year old to call the vet, for an appoitment? Or wait for my parents?

Thanks.

UPDATES WILL BE POSTED SOON AFTERWARDS I CALL THE VET AND WE TAKE HER THERE.

Can you call the vet when you are home for lunch? You should be able to make the appointment, just let them know that your mom will be driving you so they'll know there willbe an adult there.

If she's lethargic, she seriously needs to get in as soon as possible. Today would be best. If you make an appointment for tonight, could your mom drive you?

HI there - you can call the vet - do it at lunch if you can. (better you should call sooner than 5 to get an appointment for tomorrow).

All you have to say is that you have a bunny that's a bit sick - her poo looks funny and she's been tired a lot. Tell them you want to make an appointment for you and your mom to bring her in TODAY(if you can) or TOMORROW because she has been having the wierd poo fora few days now.

Thelady that answers the phone is really nice. She will ask you the name of the bunny. Your name, how old the bunny is. She might ask you some questions about the bunny's poo so she can tell if the problem is urgent.

Do you know what time your mom and dad can take you there today or tomorrow? Tell her you can only come in after 5pm or whatever time your parents can drive you over, but tell her you really need to come in because you think the bunny is getting more sick.

If you can call your mom or dad and find out what time they can take the bunny today or tomorrow, then you can call the vet. I think your mom will be impressed that you are taking such good care of your bunny. :)

It's not too scary - and she won't ask you anything you don't know. If she does, just tell her you don't know, but you can ask your mom to call back.

That's it.

Also - you should really tell you mom how sick the bunny is if you haven't already. Tell her it's really realy urgent that you take her in because your bunny can die from the problems she is having.

Keep trying, April.

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5:30 TOMORROW! SHES GOING!!

Hey honeypot you were right, the lady on the phone is VERY nice.
I've already gotten a sample of her moucous poo thing.....
shes still sleeping a lot tho, im really worried.... arg! i cant wait till tomorrow
its so over whelming.

Great!!!! I told ya - nothing to it right? They're really nice there. Do you know which doctor you're going to be seeing? They're all very good and very helpful.

If you can, write down all thing things you remember that you're worried about.

- mucus in her poo
- tired all the time
- keep track of if she is eating and drinking normal or if she's not
- check how much she is pooping before tomorrow - is it a good amount?

Then when you go in, remember to mention all those things to the vet. Those are important things that will help them figure out how Bunbuns is doing. And remember to take the poop in in a plastic baggie. Sometimes I go in and forget to take my poo sample with me and have to go back! :)

Good job!!! ;)

Is there any way to get some pedialyte today to give to your bun? It will help keep her hydrated until her vet visit tomorrow. Dehydration is a big problem with buns who have poop issues.

Mine love the flavoured stuff and think it's a big treat. They nibble on the edge of the syringe if it's not coming out fast enough.

Good luck at the vets, let us know how it goes!
