So I had alluded to some piggy news, mentioning a vet trip, to which I got a few inquiries. Thinking I was already having trouble so soon after the death of Mr. Piggles, I was kinda keeping it tight lipped till we knew what was up for sure.
So here is the update.

As ya'll know, my sons high dollar show pig died. One of about 34 in the area now. We were given a replacement by the Evil Rabbit Overlord Eddie. The easiest way to express the quality level is, the dead pig was... a Dodge with a Hemi. The replacement pig is, well, a Ford Festiva. We all appreciate Eddie giving us the pig, but yeah Blake was bummed. Bummed his pig died, and bummed that he couldn't find an as good a replacement.

Some friends of ours had some money troubles and waited till the absolute last minute to get pigs. So they ended up with 3 instead of 2. The breeder gave them one because he was trying to get the word out about his business, and wanted to get more of his stock in the show. So they gave the pig to my son. Whereas the original pig was a Hemi, the replacement is a Festiva, this one is a Ford Powerstroke. Not quite the Original, but pretty danged good.. I would say one of the top 8 in the county, with some of the other 8 being the other 2 my friend brought back, and the Hamp we already had.

The vet trip was to have him castrated as it is illegal to show boars. So what happened to the Ford Festiva? He is now in the third pen. The little boy next door, is the same age as my Christian, even in the same class... they are both 9. He helps with my rabbits and shows them as well. His mom is having her 6th child next month. (get this.. do this math.. Dakota is 9, is mom is 23, her 6th child is due in Feb.) He has been itchin to show a pig, but with that many kids, a pig ain't a priority, so Eddie OKed us to give it to him. The boy's uncle who lives adjacent to us is pitching in the feed. Do I think the pig will make auction? Under normal circumstances, no. But with every other pig in the county dropping dead, who knows! He may shock us all!

Here are a few pics of the piggies.

Blake's pig, Master Chief & his castrated bottom...(the blue stuff is antibiotic)

COOL! and nice of you to give Dakota the extra pig. Do you have a limit of how many they can show? and can't they all auction an animal? Our kids are allowed to auction one animal.

You can tag in 2 animals, but we never do. At this show, there is only a limited amount they auction off.

They do 20 pigs, 10 rabbits, 8 goats, 8 lambs, 10 roasters.

Everthing gets donated back except the pigs and the Roasters (chickens).... they get.. well... yanno...

And even the ones in the barn that didn't make auction get snapped up pretty quickly.

It's just a small county show. And alot of our local business owners are tightwads.. they spend their money on their toupee's and their girlfriends toupee's. So if we offer em to much, the kids get less money.

Hey.. what do you have if there is 32 women from my neck of the woods in one room?

a full set of teeth....

HAHAHAHA

I kill me..

LOL! silly!

So is this your 4H show then?

We have limited numbers of animals they can show. I think it's like 10 sheep, 10 pigs something like that.

ALL kids can auction an animal they have shown but they have to go to the truck. However, one of the trucks is a local butcher and he will sell back at cost. At least that's what I've heard about bunnies but we won't risk it.

The rest of the animals can be loaded to the truck for current value.

We've done sheep and I hate it. HATE IT. I still have nightmares. Oh, man now I'm crying again LOL!
