Hello, if you guys wouldn't mind could you please fill out this survey. It's for a product design class. Also please note when I ask what minimum cage size you would recommend I am not asking what cage size you currently have.

That's the plan! Pretty much all of the pet store cages are trash in my opinion but there are also some pretty concerning issues with xpens and free room set ups

(for example my Oliver is now free room because he got his head stuck inside the X pen bar and also would frequently jump out of the 3 foot cage because there was no roof and with free roaming him he's chewed up quite a few things and I'm scared of impaction but without any proper cages on the market there's not much I can do)

and he would definitely knock over an an NIC grid cage considering he was able to move the X pen about a foot just by pushing at it

I'm in a product design class so I'm looking at designing a cage because I feel like there's a big need for it. it would address every possible issue faced with current rabbit set ups and be much larger than the pet store cages

my current plan right now is a 12 ft.² bottom with a 4 ft.² top level
obviously I can't really give away too much information but I'll leave it at that

also I would like to note if I were to produce a cage there will definitely be multiple spots where I would note that rabbit still need at least six hours of exercise time a day
most likely right on the box of the packaging, the instructions, and ideally I'd like to include a pamphlet on proper rabbit care where it would also be noted

Done. I don't think cages are any good though, no cage is big enough. It would be much more useful to have a design for a foldable room divider with either mesh with small holes so bunnies can't chew on it or perspex. Something like the pic below but much bigger and with options to extend it.

RWAF guideline is that rabbits should have 24/7 access to 60 square foot. Cages are not suitable for rabbits.

Cage size is a touchy subject but not everyone can free roam. this provides a solution. 12sq ft is The Rabbit House recommendation and backed by Dana M. Krempels

As you make your plans, don't totally discount NIC cages. One that is made the way it should be made (not open like an ex-pen) will NOT be able to be knocked over. But zip-ties must be used, not those round plastic connectors that come with the shelving.
