Alright I really love hearing how people got some of their first bunnies, or most memorable time with them.

My "First" Story is about my bun Cheiro.

I had wanted a bun for the longest time and every time my parentswould say "no, no , no" Well being as persistant as i am i finally gotthem to cave and let me get one in the spring. well i waited all winterresearching and looking at bunnies everywhere. Online, Friends Pets,Pet Stores ( they recieve directly from a breeder ^_^) So finally thatspring day comes and its payday as well! *Yes* I got a cage from afriend so i didnt have to worry about that. Well going against all myknowledge of bunnies being in shelters, I caved and wanted to go to themall. I looked at several English Spots that were black with brokenherringbones, and this one Almond ( Gold ) English mix, he had one eardown and one up, and i fell in love almost instantly. This store gottheir buns from a breeder as well and they seemed pretty reliable asinformation goes. well to my luck they didnt ask for ID. you have to be16 to buy any pet there. which i think is a Wonderful thing to have inplace. But i guess the confidence in my voice didnt prompt the lady toask me. I signed a paper or two and my bun was on his way home. i wasso nervous but excited too. and on the way back we were all tryin tocome up with names. some rather rediculous ones came up. like hod dog,and hamburger, and captain underpants... yeah. i have some interestingfriends i guess you could say. so yeah i got home. and boy oh boy mydad was angry. i crept up the stairs as my mom let me go by giving me a* Its so cute! boy im mad at you! *
it took awhile but now my dad likes him and my other bun as well ^_^theyre grateful for their poo as fertilizer for their plants.. so iguess thats a plus!

What are all of your stories!?

My son wanted to join or start a 4Hanimal husbandry and care project. We considered some different animalssuch as ferrets, chinchillas and guinea pigs. We saw a rabbit pictureand both said aww. We read up on them and decided these were for us.

We had to decide if we wanted rescues or purebreds. Jeremydecided on purebreeds. We spent four months researching differentbreeds. I found a pictre of a magician holding this huge whiterabbit. Imagine my surprise when I realized we could have some thatbig. Jeremy came home from school took one look and said that was therabbits for us.

Flemish Giants were the breed and we speant anothermonth researching them. We contacted some breeders before deciding onthe one we did. We spent the next four months waiting for our perfectbabies to be born. We got everything ready for them and read everythingwe could get our hands on.

In April of 2004. Apollo and Athena were ready to come home. Weloved before we saw them. Seeing them for the first time we cried wewere so happy. we've never regretted a moment of it. We are now excitedabout getting 3 more Babies in July.

I had never wanted a rabbit, in fact, at thefirst pet store I managed, I dreaded having rabbits at thestore. Then I did some research and learned a lot about themand decided that I just had to have one.

Things were really bad at my house for a while.Mymom was hit by a car and was just beginning what would be months inrehab, so I was living all alone because my boyfriend was living inIndiana at the time and my mom's fiance is a truck driver.I've had ferrets, rats and degus but I had a virus go throughthat room andI lost 3 ferrets, 1 rat and my entire breedingfamily of degus within 3 wks time. My vet was unable to comeup with a diagnosis. When things had cleared up in there, noone was showing any signs of illness and I hadn't lost any in about 3wks, I decided it was time to increase my critter family.

I went with a friend to a reptile show, I needed crickets for mybearded dragons. There was a family selling "4 month old minilops for pets only". They were only $5, so I knew peoplewould buy them for feeding. I fell in love with one, so Ijust had to bring her home. Upon doing more research, I'verealized that Daisy is a Holland lop and she was probably only 5 or 6wks old, but she is great just the same.

Sage came into the store I manage and I just fell in love. Heis the sweetest little boy. Basil came from a breeder becauseI just needed a mini rex -- you can't beat that fur. Elviswas dumped on that same friend's porch. Orion was anotherreptile show rescue and Saphy also came from a breeder to be Basil'shusband.

That's why I have Hef. I held a baby mini rex at a fair years ago and Icouldn't get over how soft the fur was! A few years later when I wasready for another bun, I went to the same fair and Hef came up andlicked my hand.:)

He wasn't my first - Annie was. She was a huge black lop that was givento my (now ex) boyfriend and I. I had always liked bunnies, but neverhad one as a pet. Annie was really sweet and wonderful! When she passedaway I decided to get another. I got three.:p

The funniest thing I remember about Annie is that she taught mesomething I never knew before - that rabbits make noise! She was outrunning around the living room and I decided it was time to go to bed.I went to pull her out from under the couch and she grunted at me!(None of my rabbits since have had such a deep, loud voice!) I wasshocked! Now I look back and laugh at how silly I was!

oh god, my buns make so much noise. i pet them and they purr, and gruntBugsy will lick my hand and cheiro too but more rarely, hes prettynippy, but never really BITES. he loves to play though ill get on thefloor and touch his feet and hell run away from me and run right back, flipping his ears and being so **** cute! Bugsy is more calm and justkinda sits around when people are near him. But thats cause he wasnever treated the way i treat Cheiro at his former home. ( i got himfrom a friend) so yeah, hes got alot of work ahead for me. ^_^
