Stopped taking her medicine...

My bunny tested positive for e. cuniculi (she had lost weight and wasn't using her litter box at all) so for the past 7 days she has been taking .15 cc of Oxybendazole. She loved it and drank it right out of the syringe. She acted like it was a treat. This week she started on a dose of .075 cc for the next 30 days. Suddenly she won't drink it anymore. If I mix it with a little yogurt or baby food and put it on a plate for her to lick up, will that still be ok? Or does it have to get directly into her mouth. The dose is so tiny that I feel like if I force the syringe into her mouth and lose a drop, I've lost half the dose.

In my experience w/ giving meds, yes, mix it w/ anything that will make her take it. Even pumpkin or applesauce will work. Hope that helps!

And just another thing, if you are going to mix her meds with anything make sure that it is something that she really loves, because you won't wanna waste the meds, and maybe just give her a very small amount of whatever it is you are going to mix it with, that way, it's more or less one lick and it's gone,then you can give her just a little more for being a good girl(without the meds of course)

I have had to do the same with my Daisy,she had an operation to remove her hip bone, and i was a bit scared to pick her up for a few days,so i put her meds into some baby food, after a few days i started to pick her up and syringe it to her

Cheryl-good thought. I didn't say that cuz I was thinking that you would try it before the meds, but-no, if you haven't had to do it before, that is not something you think of at all.

Snuffles, when i had to do that for Daisy, i wasted a bit of the meds because the thingsi tried to give her, she wouldn't touch it, until i tried banana baby food,f ussy girl:disgust:



cmh..you could also try putting the meds in a bit of apple juice or even pedialyte,and syringe it to her that way, she may like that better
