We don't need pet stores selling rabbits while so many remain homeless and while others are being put down. Petcetera has stopped selling rabbits in BC stores because of public pressure, so if you haven't done so, please sign our petition asking that this be expanded to include all its retail outlets across Canada.
On behalf of the rabbits, thank-you! Help make a difference - rabbits matter!

I think the wierd part about Petcetera is that they sell bunnies and help the humane society adopt out bunnies. they have a shelter bun a few meters from the babies. seems like a conflict of intrest to me.

I just signed it, even though I did buy Daisy Mae at a Petcetera I do agree that rabbits should NOT be sold a t pet stores. However saying that I am so very glad we did buy her, she is truely the most adorable bunny but not the most affectionate so I wonder if someone with small kids would have bought her where she would be right now. Just my:twocents

I think it would be good to take the bunnies from the shelter and sell them, not the ones shipped in. :(

Well, to be honest, I can see problems with this, too. If you just let people buy them, the likelyhood is that part of them will just wind up back in the shelter. You have to have some kind of system to weed out people that wouldn't be good bunny owners, like the adoption appication that resucues use. As badly as I need to find homes for some of my rabbits, I have turned down two interested parties just recently, one because she thought neuter/spay was unecesary for a rabbit. Her exact words were, "come on, it is a rabbit".

I agree i would do the same thing i have one person who has bought 2 rabbits off me and i have had them neutered and cared for them as she was not sure what to do after and she was quite nervous. (she is paying lol) but i would rather do that than her take them and be to wary to get them done. She has lots of animals but never rabbits before, i think cause they are nethies they are very small !!
